New Providence Community Policing Center to hold Job Fairs September 25th and 26th
Clarksville, TN – On Thursday, September 25th, Convergys and White Staffing will be at the New Providence Community Policing Center Job Fair from 10:00am until 1:00pm.
Convergys seeks to fill 100 customer service sales positions in Clarksville. Pay rate is $9.50/hour. Convergys also has an “Experience is Education” program that allows individuals who do not have a high school diploma or GED to work while pursuing their educational goals.

Clarksville TN – The Nashville Chive Chapter will “Party for a Purpose” as they hold another unofficial meetup at Clarksville’s Tilted Kilt Pub and Eatery this Saturday September 27th from 5:00pm to close. The theme of the party is “Save Second Base” to benefit Susan G. Komen.
The event is presented by Budweiser of Clarksville, and additional sponsors are Love Blood Ink Tattoo, Sapphire Vapor, The Joe Padula Show, and Clarksville Online.

Drug Task Force to collect, dispose of unused medications
Montgomery County, TN – The 19th Judicial District Drug Task Force is again partnering with DEA to collect unused medications and dispose of them properly.
From 10:00am to 2:00pm Saturday, agents will be stationed at Walgreens, 1954 Madison Street in Clarksville to collect the medications.
Austin Peay State University waiving fees for active duty soldiers at APSU Fort Campbell Center
Clarksville, TN – A recent change to the U.S. Department of Defenses’ Tuition Assistance program is causing active-duty military personnel to pay out-of-pocket cash for fees associated with pursuing a college education, but Austin Peay State University is working to eliminate this financial burden affecting its military students.
Beginning with the Fall II semester, APSU will waive online fees and technology access fees for active-duty personnel taking classes at the Austin Peay Center at Fort Campbell.
APSU Senior Art Exhibits planned for fall semester
Clarksville, TN – This fall, 15 young artists will bring their studies at Austin Peay State University to a close by hosting public exhibitions of the work they created for their senior thesis projects.

Wadia visits England several times a year to teach study abroad classes on Shakespeare, and this summer, local travelers will get to take advantage of his extensive knowledge of the area as he hosts an APSU Alumni Travel trip, British Landscapes, June 11th-20th, 2015. [Read more]

Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department extends deadline for Art on the Park Contest to September 26th
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Department of Parks and Recreation is hosting a contest that allows for art students across the city to display their creative talents. Students in grades 6-12 may design their own masterpiece for the chance to paint their work on a pre-selected wall of Heritage Park Skatepark.
On top of displaying their art in the park, winners will also receive a gift card and their framed artwork.

APSU ROTC Conducts “BLITZ” Training on Cumberland River
Clarksville, TN – Anyone driving down Riverside Drive on September 9th might have seen a peculiar sight on the Cumberland River near McGregor Park. Two zodiacs—black inflatable military boats—were crossing the river filled with Austin Peay State University Reserve Officer Training Corp (ROTC) cadets. The cadets were rowing fervently to get to the other side of the river, retrieve two mock casualties and transport them back to the APSU campus.
The mission was part of the ROTC program’s weekly Tuesday morning BLITZ. One cadet is chosen each week to lead the squad in a predetermined mission that creates an environment of adversity, both physically and mentally.
