APSU hires Dr. Rex Gandy as new Provost, V.P. for Academic Affairs
Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University has hired Dr. Rex Gandy as its new Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. Gandy, who is slated to begin work at APSU on June 1st, currently serves in the same position at Texas A&M University-Kingsville, a position he has held since 2009.
Gandy follows former Provost Tristan Denley, who serves as Vice Chancellor of the Tennessee Board of Regents, and Dr. Jaime Taylor, who has served as Interim Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs since 2013.
Clarksville Police Department to Hold Car Seat Inspections
Clarksville, TN – On February 28th, 2015 from 10:00am until 2:00pm at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church on 2526 Whitfield Road, the Clarksville Police Department will provide assistance for the proper installation of child restraints along with traffic safety information.

CMCSS announces Administrative Appointments
Montgomery County, TN – Dr. Bryan Johnson, who is serving as director of high schools for CMCSS, has been named Chief Academic Officer. Dr. Johnson, who earned his doctorate from Trevecca Nazarene University, served as principal of Northwest High School for two years and was assistant principal of West Creek High School for two years.
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society
Clarksville, TN – Once in a while when you’re in a second-hand store, you can run across a book you’ve missed when it first came out, but one that becomes a lifelong favorite. That’s what happened to me when I found “The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society” by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows (The Dial Press, August, 2008).
Who could resist a book with a title like this!
The entire book is a series of letters with the central character a writer named Juliet Ashton. The initial setting is just after World War II as Juliet is setting out on a book tour for her collection of columns she wrote during the war to help keep up spirits of those at home in England.
Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce Will Host Home and Garden Show This Weekend
Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce sixth annual Home and Garden Show, sponsored by Furniture Connection, is taking place this weekend, February 21st-22nd.
The show will be at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center, which is located inside Liberty Park at 1188 Cumberland Drive.
Fort Defiance Interpretive Center’s Surrender of Clarksville event has been cancelled
Clarksville, TN – The Fort Defiance Interpretive Center’s living history event to commemorate the 153rd anniversary of the Surrender of Clarksville has been cancelled.
The event, originally scheduled for Saturday, February 21st at 10:00am will not be rescheduled.
