Girl Scouts of Middle TennesseeMontgomery County, TN – The Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee congratulates Delaney Powell, Sydney Sabash and Natalie Wieber for earning the Girl Scout Gold Award – the highest achievement in Girl Scouting.

Delaney restructured Montgomery Central’s science lab, which included the development of an inventory system for cabinets and equipment. This has helped to improve efficiency for both teachers and students.

Golf champion David Meador to speak at Woodward Library Society Spring Social, April 27th

The Woodward Library SocietyClarksville, TN – David Meador, a four-time golf national champion, once toyed with the idea of becoming a police officer. In the summer of 1966, the 18-year-old Meador worked part time as a police station radio operator, and one evening, he was invited to take a ride in a new police cruiser.

At some point during the night, the officer behind the wheel engaged in a high-speed pursuit of another vehicle, and he ended up crashing the new cruiser.

Hilltop Super Market’s Easter Egg Hunt just gets bigger and better

Hilltop SupermarketClarksville, TN – The weather was perfect Saturday, April 4th for Hilltop Super Market’s 20th Annual Easter Egg Hunt. Events started at 11:00am with the egg hunt set for 2:00pm.

There were plenty of activities for the kids like inflatable bounce houses, cupcake decorating, face painting and more. There was food and drink available. Boy Scout Troop 546 was there raising money by selling funnel cakes for $3.00 each.

The 20th Annual Hilltop Supermarket Easter Egg Hunt was held Saturday.

Clarksville Gas and Water Department Transitions to New Online Utility Bill Payment Processing Service

Online and automated payment by phone service will be temporarily unavailable

Clarksville Gas and Water Department - CGWClarksville, TN – Clarksville Gas and Water is pleased to announce the transition to a new online customer payment processing service. The new service will include the same secure online payment services as before, but will feature a new convenient One Time Payment option for monthly utility bill payment.

Customers will be able to select the new One Time Payment button on the Gas and Water home page, www.clarksvillegw.com , then choose Visa, MasterCard or Discover credit card payment or E-Check payment without establishing an “Access My Account” login and password.

Tilted Kilt of Clarksville’s Anaeli Gomez is Top 50 Finalist for Scholarship and National Calendar

Clarksville's Tilted KiltClarksville, TN – Anaeli Gomez of Clarksville has placed as a Top 50 Finalist in the Tilted Kilt 2016 National Calendar Girl Competition, beating out hundreds of Kilt Girl competitors across the country. Gomez is a bartender and server at Tilted Kilt Clarksville.

The final round of competition is an online voting round taking place now through April 30th. The 15 girls that get the most votes online will receive a spot on the 2016 National Kilt Girl Calendar as well as trip to California and a $2,000 scholarship.

APSU students do service work in North Carolina

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – In March, 11th Austin Peay State University students spent their spring break volunteering with the Autism Society of North Carolina’s Camp Royall, collectively completing 275 hours of community service.

From March 7th-14th, students traveled to Moncure, North Carolina, to spend a week doing camp maintenance in preparation for summer camp, and volunteering for afternoon sessions of camp. The students took a side trip to Wilmington, to visit the ocean before committing to five days of work for Camp Royall. [Read more]

APSU Department of Art and Center of Excellence For The Creative Arts award inaugural Tennessee Artist Fellowship

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University Department of Art, in association with the Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts, is pleased to announce that Memphis-based artist Maysey Craddock is the recipient of the inaugural Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts Tennessee Artist Fellowship.

Craddock was selected from a list of outstanding artists from across the state compiled by APSU faculty for the honor, and will be awarded $5,000 to aid in the creation of new artwork. [Read more]

Rusty Campbell new coordinator at APSU Springfield campus

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Rusty Campbell, coordinator for Austin Peay State University’s Highland Crest campus, wants people to know they can earn a bachelor’s degree without ever leaving Robertson County.

The four-year-old Highland Crest classroom facility in Springfield, which houses both APSU and Volunteer State Community College, now offers five full undergraduate programs, taught by APSU faculty, in criminal justice, computer science, K-6 grade teacher licensure, social work and professional studies.
