CMCSS makes new Administrative Appointments

Clarksville-Montgomery County School System - CMCSSMontgomery County, TN – The Clarksville Montgomery County School System today announced two new administrative appointments.

Jaime Dye Holder, the theatre arts teacher at Northwest High School, has been selected as the assistant principal at Kenwood Middle School.

Linda Medina-Griffy, assistant principal at Montgomery Central Elementary School, will become the assistant principal at Minglewood Elementary School.

APSU named Great College to Work For

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – For the fourth consecutive year, Austin Peay State University is one of the best colleges in the nation to work for, according to a recent survey by The Chronicle of Higher Education. In addition, APSU is the only university in Tennessee to make the national publication’s “Great Colleges to Work For 2015” list.

The results were released earlier this week in The Chronicle’s eighth annual report on The Academic Workplace.

LEAP Organization Takes Group to New York for 5th Annual Education Excursion

LEAP OrganizationClarksville, TN – New York City was the destination for the LEAP Organization’s 5th Annual Education Excursion. Youth from Clarksville along with chaperones and community members embarked on a four day journey to New York to educate LEAP youth by exposing them to other cities, their cultural differences and historical landmarks.

Places that were visited included the 911 Tribute Center and Memorial Center, Rockefeller Center/Top of the Rock, Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, Luna Park Coney Island, Madison Square Garden, and Madame Tussauds Celebrity Wax Museum in addition to several museums and sight-seeing cruises.

Be More Like Wade Scholarship Fund 5k run to take place Saturday, July 25th

Wade Morgan - Be More Like WadeCunningham, TN – In honor of Wade Morgan’s memory a “Be More Like Wade Scholarship” 5K will take place Saturday, July 25th, 2015 at the Central Civitan Club building just before the 107th annual Lone Oak Picnic. Registration starts at 8:00am and the race is slated for 8:30am.

All proceeds will go into a scholarship fund which will be given to a Montgomery Central Senior who demonstrates similar characteristics of #bemorelikewade. He exemplified the true meaning of a genuine person by being a selfless individual and always having an optimistic outlook on life.

The Clarksville Downtown Market will be open from 8:00am to noon on Public Square. Get a head start on your holiday shopping as the North Pole invades the Market this Saturday. Not only will the Market be decked out in Christmas décor, but vendors will be selling Christmas items, too.

Customers are also advised to leave their dogs at home. Asphalt gets very hot and can burn your pet’s paws.

Immaculate Conception Catholic ChurchClarksville, TN – Stephen Joseph Wolf has recently been appointed to serve as parish priest for Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Clarksville. Father Wolf will assume his new role in July.

A native of Nashville, Father Steve brings to his flock a varied background of life experience. The second of eight sons, he and has worked as a janitor, launderer, desk clerk, landscaper, accountant and priest.

New Fashion Advisory Board begins at Governor’s Square Mall

Members participate in fashion photo shoots, fashion shows and assist with mall events.

Governors Square MallClarksville, TN – Clarksville’s Governor’s Square Mall is accepting applications for membership in the Fashion Advisory Board now until August 14th. The Fashion Advisory Board is open to high school students 15 years of age or older with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Parental permission is mandatory for program participation. The Fashion Advisory Board is a program for high school students interested in fashion, events and marketing. [Read more]

Austin Peay State University partners with PepsiCo to make Dream Machine recycling machine available on campus

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University is providing students and faculty with a new and rewarding way to recycle their bottles and cans with the installation of a PepsiCo Dream Machine kiosk in the Morgan University Center.

With the start of the 2015-16 school year approaching, the kiosk will join numerous static bins located across the Clarksville campus. APSU is one of only two universities in the state of Tennessee to partner with PepsiCo and install Dream Machines.

APSU Center for Extended Education and Distance Education to host Tennessee Business Tax Seminar

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – In cooperation with the Tennessee Department of Revenue, Austin Peay State University’s Center for Extended and Distance Education will again host the annual Tennessee Business Tax seminar from 8:00am-5:30pm, Tuesday, July 28th in the Morgan University Center.

Representatives from the Tennessee Department of Revenue, the Tennessee Division of Workers’ Compensation, the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development and the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury will facilitate sessions related to business taxes.
