Dr. Ashlee Spearman named director of APSU’s Quality Enhancement Plan
Clarksville, TN – Dr. Ashlee Spearman, director of student transitions, has been named director of Austin Peay State University’s Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP).
The QEP is a requirement for accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).
APSU professor Dr. Tony Morris elected to SECAC Board of Directors
Clarksville, TN – Dr. Tony Morris, Associate Professor of Art History at Austin Peay State University, has been elected to a three-year term on the Southeastern College Art Conference (SECAC) Board of Directors.
Morris earned his Ph.D. in Art History from Case Western Reserve University in 2010. With an interest in the expression of queer masculinities and artwork that challenges conventional social values, his research focuses on gender and queer identity in 20th century American art.

Fort Knox, KY – The U.S. Army Cadet Command has announced the eight winners of the MacArthur Awards for the school year 2014-2015.
The award recognizes the eight schools, selected from among the 275 senior Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) units nationwide, as the top programs in the country.
The awards, presented by Cadet Command and the Gen. Douglas MacArthur Foundation, recognize the ideals of “duty, honor and country” as advocated by MacArthur.

Altra Federal Credit Union to hold Home Buying After Hours Mixer on March 8th, 2016
Clarksville, TN – An educational mixer focusing on first time home buying will be held on Thursday, March 8th from 5:30pm to 7:00pm at Miss Lucille’s Café 2231-L Madison Street, Clarksville, TN 37043.
The event is set up as a social mixer where attendees can learn more about home loan options and meet with a Realtor®, appraiser, home inspector, title company representative, and insurance representative who will provide helpful tips on home buying and answer questions.
Austin Peay State University’s The All State to Host 2016 Southeast Journalism Conference
Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University will host the 2016 Southeast Journalism Conference (SEJC) February 18th-20th, 2016. Jake Lowary, APSU student publications adviser/The Leaf-Chronicle News Director, will serve as SEJC President until the 2017 host school is announced during this year’s conference.

Construction work scheduled at the Clarksville Greenway
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation will install a safety barrier rail on a section of the Clarksville Greenway from Mary’s Oak trailhead to Heritage Park.
Construction is scheduled to occur between February 15th and March 11th and at times, this section of trail will be closed.

Fellowship United Methodist to hold Health and Craft Fair March 12th
Clarksville, TN – On March 12th, Fellowship United Methodist Church’s Senior Adult and Women’s Crafting Ministry will be hosting a Health and Craft Fair.

APSU names alumnus Phillips as executive director of University Advancement
Clarksville, TN – Kristopher Phillips (’91), a nationally recognized advancement professional, was recently named executive director of the Austin Peay State University Office of University Advancement. Roy Gregory previously served in that position until he retired last June after 24 years of service to APSU.
“We’re excited to have someone of Kris’s caliber lead our advancement efforts,” Derek van der Merwe, APSU vice president of Advancement, Communication and Strategic Initiatives, said. “He understands the intricacies of raising money for institutions of higher education, he is considered a national leader in his profession and his expertise will help guide our advancement team to provide more opportunities for deserving young men and women who wish to earn a college education.”
