108th annual Lone Oak Picnic Simply Wonderful
Cunningham, TN – On Saturday, July 30th, 2016 the Central Civitan Club hosted the 108th annual Lone Oak Picnic at the Central Civitan Building. The event began at 10:00am and went on until around 3:00pm.
There was plenty of good conversations, entertainment and great food to go around. Those running for office were allowed to address those in attendance starting at 11:00am.
“We had a pretty good crowd this year. Appreciate everyone being here. If you weren’t able to be here, I’m sorry you missed it. Maybe you can be here next year,” said Larry Pitts with Central Civitan.
Clarksville’s Downtown Kiwanis Club receives UPS Grant
Montgomery County, TN – The Kiwanis Club of Clarksville (Downtown) was recently awarded a $10,000 grant from the UPS Foundation.
This is the second year that Kiwanis has been awarded this grant and it will be used to continue to support children’s literacy in our community.

City Of Clarksville receives $488,000 Grant for Swan Lake Aquatic Center and Kids Splash Park
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan has received notice that the City of Clarksville will receive $488,000 in grant funding from the State of Tennessee, Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC).
The funding, which was received as part of a competitive grant application process, is for the renovation of the Swan Lake Aquatic Center and Kids Splash Park.
Fort Campbell Garrison Commander Colonel James R. Salome to speak at APSU’s Summer Commencement
Clarksville, TN – Fort Campbell Garrison Commander Colonel James R. Salome will deliver the keynote address at Austin Peay State University’s 88th Summer Commencement on August 5th.
Salome took command of Fort Campbell on June 18th, 2015, after arriving from Fort Bragg, North Carolina, where he served as the Commander’s Initiatives Group director, U.S. Army Forces Command. Salome previously served with 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, as an operations officer.

More than 40 CMCSS Career and Technology Education teachers met with industry partners recently to plan how to better prepare students for the workforce.
LEAP Youth to hold Car Wash and Bake Sale Friday, July 29th
Clarksville, TN – On Friday, July 29nd, LEAP Youth held a Car Wash and Bake Sale fundraiserfrom from 11:00am until 2:00pm. The event was help behind LEAP Plaza located at 1860 Wilma Rudolph Boulevard in Clarksville.
The money raised will be used to take the young adults on a trip to Beech Bend Park.
“We do a lot of outings with the kids to teach them that nothing is free in the world. So we had them put together a couple of fundraisers to help pay for the trips they will be going on throughout the year,” said Malcolm Luster, LEAP Counselor.

Clarksville, TN – On July 28th, 2016 the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library will hold a Microsoft Publisher class from 9:30am until 11:00am. Have an interest in learning how to create publications, or documents that you can print and distribute? Come check out this free class.
This class teaches how to create publications or documents that you can print and distribute. You can use a template for brochures, newsletters, greeting cards, and more or use a blank page and create your own document.

Downtown Kiwanis Club Awards Annual Scholarship to Clarksville Academy’s Evelyn Turner
Montgomery County, TN – The Kiwanis Club of Clarksville (Downtown) recently awarded their annual $2,000 scholarship to Evelyn Turner.
Turner is a recent graduate of Clarksville Academy, with plans to attend the University of Tennessee at Martin in August. Turner was a member of the Clarksville Academy Key Club, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Clarksville (Downtown).
