Winter/Spring Clarksville Parks and Recreation Activity Guide now available
Clarksville, TN – We’re ringing in the new year by releasing the new 2017 Winter/Spring Clarksville Parks and Recreation Activity Guide a little bit early.
The Activity Guide is full of over seventy-five different activities and special events occurring between the months of January and April in the City’s parks, recreation centers and indoor pool.
Queen City Road Race T-shirt contest for kids
Clarksville, TN – Calling all budding artists in grades 1st through 5th, Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s Queen City Road Race T-shirt design contest is back and the best drawing will be featured on the official 2017 event t-shirt!
The Queen City Road Race, sponsored by Cumberland Bank and Trust, will take place Saturday, May 6th beginning at 8:00am at Austin Peay’s Fortera Stadium. The event will include a 5K, 10K, and One-Mile Walk/Run.

28 Austin Peay State University students selected for Who’s Who Among Students
Clarksville, TN – Twenty-eight Austin Peay State University students were recently selected for inclusion in Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges for the 2016-2017 academic year.
These 28 individuals will be officially recognized at the Student Organization and Leader Awards on April 19th, at Austin Peay.
Montgomery County Animal Care and Control receives PetSmart Grant
Montgomery County, TN – Montgomery County Animal Care and Control is pleased to be the recipient of a $10,000.00 PetSmart Charities grant. This grant provides emergency medical funds for the 56 dogs that were rescued from a house fire in November.
“PetSmart Charities continues to be a great partner and supporter of our facility,” stated Animal Control Director Jeanette Farrell.
Austin Peay State University’s TRiO program honors its 2016 Winter Graduates
Clarksville, TN – A week before Austin Peay State University hosted its winter commencement ceremony, a small celebration took place on the second floor of the Morgan University Center.
While jazz music played lightly in the background, eight students who participated in the University’s federally funded TRiO Support Services program were honored for their perseverance during a graduate recognition ceremony.

CMCSS named to 7th Annual Advanced Placement District Honor Roll
Montgomery County, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System is one of 438 school districts across the U.S. and Canada to be honored by the College Board’s 7th Annual Advanced Placement (AP) District Honor Roll.

CMCSS is one of only 6 districts in the state of Tennessee to be named to the Advanced Placement District Honor Roll.
Austin Peay State University student newspaper wins awards at national convention in Atlanta
Clarksville, TN – The All State, the student-run newspaper at Austin Peay State University, earned two national awards from the College Media Association (CMA) during the organization’s Fall National Media Convention in Atlanta, Georgia, on Saturday, October 29th.
Glavine Day, sports editor, earned a coveted second place national Pinnacle Award for Best Sports Page/Spread for her designs featuring the huge win by the Govs at the 2016 Ohio Valley Conference Basketball Championship.

Austin Peay State University spotlights student community service at High Impact Practices Showcase
Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University Center for Service-Learning and Community Engagement, in association with the departments of Career Services and International Education and the Office of Undergraduate Research, held a High Impact Practices (H.I.P.) Showcase on November 30th, highlighting the work of University students and professors in applying learning to real-world scenarios over the past year.
Over 150 people attended the event, which saw 30 students present their experiences in high impact practices.
