The New Gallery opens season with exhibit by APSU professor

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s The New Gallery, with support from the APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts and the APSU Department of Art + Design, recently opened its 2018-19 exhibition season with “McLean Fahnestock: Undiscovered Country.”
Fahnestock is a media artist who works across modes of communication, from video and photographic images to sound, text and display.
City of Clarksville to open BCycle station at APSU

Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville and Austin Peay State University are partnering to open a Clarksville BCycle station on campus and offer currently enrolled APSU students free annual bike-share memberships.
Thanks to an award-winning “Great Green Idea” by former SGA President Frank Burns, the support of the Student Government Association and the Sustainable Campus Fee Committee, a new station with 10 BCycles has been installed at the Foy Recreation Center.

Gleaming new BCycles, customized with special APSU graphics, stand ready for use at the new Clarksville BCycle station near APSU’s Foy Recreation Center. The station will be dedicated Thursday.
Montgomery County Parks Receives $500,000 Grant

Montgomery County, TN – Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam and the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) announced the list of Tennessee Communities this week that would receive a series of grants totaling more than $15 million to help fund parks and recreation projects in Tennessee communities across the state.
“Easy access to parks, trails, walking paths and other recreational facilities can make a good community a great community,” said Haslam. “These grants provide the resources needed to help make Tennessee an even more desirable place to live, work and raise a family.”

Clarksville, TN – The new 2018 Fall/Winter Clarksville Parks and Recreation Activity Guide is now available, offering details about scores of programs and events, a detailed map showing all 47 of the department’s parks, trails and facilities, and information about rentals for private functions.
The guide also offers information about 15 new events and programs from September to December in the City’s parks, recreation centers and indoor pool and includes information about current and upcoming park projects and improvements.

They will also be sponsoring the Miss Princesa Americas cultural beauty pageant on Saturday October 6th, 2018. Both Events will take place at the Clarksville William O. Beach Civic Center at 350 Pageant Lane Suite 201.

Music 4 Mercy, The Beagles and Broadcast 90’s Will Entertain at the August Downtown@Sundown Concert

Clarksville, TN – This Friday, August 17th, 2018 Music 4 Mercy, a local soul and jazz group, and The Beagles, a local group that plays cover music spanning the decades from the 70s through now, will open for Broadcast 90’s, The Ultimate 90’s Rock Tribute band, playing homage to the last golden decade of guitar driven rock: the 1990’s, during the fourth concert in the six-part Downtown @ Sundown series.
“This will be a fantastic night of music in Downtown Clarksville at Downtown Commons. This Friday’s show is a triple threat featuring three top notch acts to include two local favorites, Music 4 Mercy and the Beagles,” stated Norman Quirion, Two Rivers Company Executive Director.
Final Road to Riverfest concert of the series to be held August 25th

Call for Artwork Submissions for 2019 Arts & Heritage Cultural Calendar

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Arts & Heritage Development Council (AHDC) is putting out a call to artists who are interested in having their work featured in the 11th annual Cultural Calendar. Each month will feature an artist’s work and highlight upcoming arts and heritage events.
Submitted work will be juried to determine which piece is featured each month, as well as which artwork appears on the cover. As in years past, calendars will be available through AHDC’s website, as well as in the Customs House Museum’s “Seasons” gift shop and other locations around town.
