Clarksville Parks and Recreations announces Movies in the Park begins May 25th
Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department has announced Movies in the Park begins Saturday, May 25th with the showing of Pixar Animation Studios “Incredibles 2” at Heritage Park. Heritage Park is located at 1241 Peachers Mill Road.
The City of Clarksville’s free, outdoor movie series, will celebrate its 14th season.
Clarksville’s Welcome Home Celebration set for September 18th-22nd
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville’s Welcome Home Celebration will take place September 18th-22nd, 2019. The event, now in it’s fifth year, has added two new exhibits to honor veterans and first responders. The community is invited to participate in dozens of events and activities and show their appreciation.

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department has lined up a full schedule of camps and programs for youths of all ages for this summer. Parents are reminded that registration numbers are limited for all camps, so register early.

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department as released their new 2019 May-August Activity Guide. The guild offers details about more than 150 programs and events, a detailed map showing all 48 of the department’s parks, trails and facilities, and information about rentals for private functions.

Hilltop Supermarket 2019 Dwayne Byard Memorial BBQ Cook-Off better than ever
Clarksville, TN – It had been raining early in the morning and rain was forecasted all day, but it let up during the Hilltop Supermarket 2019 Dwayne Byard Memorial BBQ Cook-Off. The event was held Saturday, May 4th.
“The weather actually turned out great. We thought it was going to pour down all day,” said Cody Jackson, Hilltop Supermarket. “It was a little cloudy with a few drops of rain but it wasn’t bad at all. We got lucky.”

Clarksville, TN – On Friday night, May 3rd, 2019, Hilltop Supermarket kicked off their 2019 Dwayne Byard Memorial BBQ Cook-Off with a party, food, live music and the 2nd annual Country Kids Cook-Off. The weather was really nice despite rain earlier in the day and an overcast sky.
“The weather has been excellent. Considering what it’s been calling for all week and the cloud cover today, it was absolutely excellent,” stated Cody Jackson, Hilltop Supermarket. “There has not been a rain drop yet. The Lord blessed us today.”

APSU’s Amy Wright publishes new essay collection on entomophagy, or eating bugs
Clarksville, TN – The risotto had crickets in it. Dr. Amy Wright, Austin Peay State University (APSU) professor of languages and literature, knew the insects were dead, but something about their small faces bothered her.
“These were whole crickets, and they appeared to be looking back at us,” she said. “I said, ‘I don’t know if I can do this.”
