Clarksville-Montgomery County Convention and Visitors Bureau announces GORUCK Challenge coming to Clarksville
Clarksville, TN – While obstacle courses and mud runs are all the rage these days, nothing compares to the real thing.
The Clarksville-Montgomery County Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) is pleased to announce its recent partnership with GORUCK, an organization that allows everyday individuals a glimpse into the world of Special Operations training.

New session of Archery to start at the Burt-Cobb Center
Clarksville, TN – A new session of archery will begin August 6th at the Burt Cobb Community Center. Preregistration is underway online at recpro.cityofclarksville.com. “The Help” plays Saturday night at Movies in the Park
Clarksville, TN – Movies in the Park will be showing the people’s choice winner “The Help” at the Heritage Park Soccer fields Saturday night, July 21st. Come early to save your spot and check out “move before the movies” which will feature a walk in the park and Tae Kwon Do.

Tina Brown takes the stage at Beachaven Winery’s Jazz on the Lawn this Saturday, July 21st, 2012
Clarksville, TN – On Saturday night, July 21st, Beachaven Winery will hold their next ‘Jazz on the Lawn’ concert with Clarksville favorite Tina Brown. The music starts at 6:30pm and goes until 9:30pm.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department to host 2nd Annual Pooch Pool Party
Clarksville, TN – The dog days of summer are quickly approaching, and for the second year in-a-row, Clarksville’s Parks and Recreation department will host its annual Pooch Pool Party on August 11th, 2012, from 1:00pm to 4:00pm, at the Swan Lake Sports Complex pool, located at 2002 Sanders Road.

Clarksville Academy announces SACS Accreditation
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Academy, a Pre-K through 12th grade private college preparatory school, is pleased to announce that the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI) has awarded Clarksville Academy accreditation.
This group represents 27,000 public and private schools and districts across the U.S. and in 65 countries worldwide educating 15 million students.
The SACS team visited Clarksville Academy in February over a two-day period and announced their accreditation in July.

Clarksville Academy students are immersed in technology with MacBook laptops and Apple iPads which are used for all work done in and outside of class.

APSU Campus Police to participate in National Night Out
Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University Campus Police, along with Clarksville and Montgomery County, will join cities nationwide for the 29th annual National Night Out (NNO), a crime and prevention event, on Tuesday, August 7th.
National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for and participation in, local anticrime efforts, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and to send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. «Read the rest of this article»
Billy Dunlop Park to Closed to the Public, July 26th
Clarksville, TN – Billy Dunlop Park, located at 1930 East Boy Scout Road, will be closed to the public Thursday, July 26th, 2012 for the Clarksville Police Department’s Teen Citizen Police Academy.
The park will reopen to the public at dawn on July 27th, 2012.

APSU’s IB5 Quintet earns third place at Calvin Smith Festival
Clarksville, TN – Last weekend, Austin Peay State University’s IB5 Brass Quintet traveled east to Oak Ridge, Tennessee, where the group placed third at the Calvin Smith Festival and Brass Quintet Competition.
The festival was held in memory of Calvin Smith, a former horn professor at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, who passed away last year. «Read the rest of this article»
