Palmyra Community to hold Taste of Shiloh Event to Celebrate the Release of New Cookbook
Palmyra, TN – From
4:30pm till 7:30pm on Saturday, August 25th, 2012, the Taste of Shiloh Cookbook committee will celebrate their upcoming cookbook at the Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall with music, raffles, and most importantly, samples of the featured recipes. Raffle prizes will include aprons, kitchen baskets, gift cards, and desserts prepared by the women featured in the cookbook. Cookbooks will be pre-sold at the event.
Two years ago, a cookbook committee was formed to record the recipes of current and past members of the Palmyra community, to ensure that the recipes they had loved would not pass away with the women who made them.

Beachaven Winery’s Jazz on the Lawn tonight with The Clarksville Jazz Quintet

Planters Bank plans the purchase of Five Old National Bank Branches
Hopkinsville, KY – Planters Bank announces its intention to acquire five Old National Bank branches in Princeton, Providence, Dawson Springs, Sebree, and Sturgis, Kentucky.
In connection with the acquisition, Planters is assuming all of the deposit liabilities of the branches, but is not acquiring any loans. The total deposits being assumed were approximately $92 million as of August 1st, 2012.
Plans call for the transaction to be complete within 90-120 days, subject to regulatory approval and the satisfaction of other customary closing conditions. «Read the rest of this article»
Fort Defiance Interpretive Center to host a living history weekend
Clarksville, TN – The Fort Defiance Interpretive Center, located at 120 Duncan Street, will host a living history weekend in remembrance of the Confederate recapture of Clarksville as well as the Battle of Riggins Hill, Saturday, September 15th from 10:00am to 5:00pm and Sunday, September 16th from 1:00pm to 5:00pm.

APSU breaks ground on new Maynard Mathematics and Computer Science Building
Clarksville, TN – For several years, local businessman and Austin Peay State University alumnus James Maynard (’56) has been a supporter of APSU.
He recently created the Maynard Family Endowment Scholarship, which provides financial assistance annually to a student from Montgomery County pursing a business degree at APSU.

Paralympic Sport Clarksville to host Archery and Shooting Event
Clarksville, TN – Paralympic Sport Clarksville is excited to announce the first Paralympic Archery and Shooting Event to be held at 10:00am Friday, October 12th at the Montgomery County Shooting Complex, located at 4201 Southside Road in Southside, TN.

Montgomery Central High School Cheerleaders to host Cheer for a Cure 5K Breast Cancer Walk/run
Cunningham, TN – The Montgomery Central Cheerleaders will be hosting a 5K Walk/Run at Montgomery Central High School beginning at 9:00 am on September 29th, 2012.
All proceeds (100%) collected from registration, apparel sales, and donations go directly to Stella Bertz Cheer For A Cure®. Clarksville Parks and Recreation offers prize to volunteers for Riverfest 2012

Clarksville Parks and Recreation is seeking volunteers to help with soft drink sales, the Adventure Zone children’s area, presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee, as well as the Cornhole Tournament on September 7th and 8th at McGregor Park.
