Russ Shemberger takes 2nd overall at Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park 5K run
Clarksville, TN – Russ Shemberger, a licensed massage therapist at Restore Performance Massage on Madison Street in Clarksville, placed second overall and won his age group (45-49) at the Run Through the Forest 5K held Saturday, September 22nd at Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park in Dawson Springs, KY.
A veteran triathlete, Shemberger recently finished the triathlon season and is now training for the Bowling Green Half-Marathon in Bowling Green, Ky, along with a number of 5K races.

Clarksville-Montgomery County High School Freshmen to Get Graduation Motivation

Austin Peay State University’s 2012 Homecoming features two sports events open to public
Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University National Alumni Association will sponsor both a golf tournament and 5K scholarship run during Homecoming 2012, and those will be open to the public.
The 34th Annual Homecoming Golf Tournament will be at 8:00am, Friday, October 26th at Swan Lake Golf Course. Cost is $60.00 per person, and advance registration is required. Austin Peay State University Provost Lecture Series discusses students’ critical thinking skills in writing
Clarksville, TN – The effects of an intended audience on students’ critical thinking skills in writing assignments will be the topic of the next Provost Lecture Series at Austin Peay State University.
Dr. Gray Kane, faculty development analyst in APSU’s Center for Teaching and Learning, will present “Intended Audience and Critical Thinking Skills” at 3:00pm, Thursday, September 27th in the Morgan University Center, Room 303.

Traces Brings Eerie Sense of Nostalgia to Customs House Museum

Friends of the Clarksville Blueway to host cleanup at Billy Dunlop Park
Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department and the Friends of the Blueway are hosting a cleanup at one of the City parks. Join the Friends on October 20th from 8:00am to 10:00am at Billy Dunlop Park, located at 1930 East Boy Scout Road.

Clarksville, TN – For the first time in its 81-year history, a staff member of Austin Peay State University’s student newspaper, The All State, has been named a finalist for college media’s top prize.

The economic data were mixed. Homebuilder sentiment continued to improve. Existing home sales rose 7.9% in August (+24.5% y/y). Housing starts and building permits were mixed in August, but continued to reflect an improving trend in single-family construction (permits up 19.3% y/y). The Fed’s two key regional manufacturing surveys were mixed, but remained weak.
Intraday volatility increased in the stock market as investors tried to weigh the Fed’s recent actions (and promise to do more if need) against the near-term headwinds and downside risks. «Read the rest of this article»
