    Clarksville Police DepartmentClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Police Department broke ground today on a long awaited Scenario House. The Scenario House will enhance the training capabilities of the department by providing a realistic training environment.

    The Scenario House became a reality through the economic support of Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan, Clarksville City Council, and the citizens of Clarksville.

    National Science Foundation-funded program at APSU awards 16 scholarships for students to study STEM disciplines

    Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – A new National Science Foundation-funded program at Austin Peay State University recently awarded 16 scholarships to community college transfer students, active duty military personnel, veterans and dependents interested in earning a bachelor’s degree in the science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) disciplines for the 2012-13 academic year.

    The project, titled “Increasing the Number of Regional Community College Graduates and Active Duty Military Personnel, Veterans and Dependents Enrolling in and Completing a STEM Baccalaureate Degree,” awarded scholarships to nine APSU students and one Volunteer State Community College student thanks to the more than $500,000 the NSF is providing APSU over the next five years. «Read the rest of this article»

    Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Students in the culinary degree program at the Austin Peay Center at Fort Campbell teamed up with the Fort Campbell culinary team for the recent Chocolate Affair community event organized by the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department.

    Together, both programs won the “Best Creative Use of Chocolate” Award at the event, which was sponsored by the City of Clarksville and held Saturday, February 9th at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center.

    35th Annual Queen City Road RaceClarksville, TN – It’s that time of year again to lace up those running shoes and begin preparing for the 35th Annual Queen City Road Race scheduled for Saturday, May 4th.

    The Queen City Road Race event is a Clarksville tradition promoting fitness and fun for all ages. The 7K and 5K race route takes runners through the streets of Historic Downtown Clarksville, beginning and ending at Austin Peay State University’s Governors Stadium, while the One Mile Movement takes you on an exciting tour of a portion of the APSU campus.

(NASDAQ: HFBC) (“HopFed”), the parent company of Heritage Bank in Hopkinsville, Kentucky (“Heritage”), today announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Sumner Bank & Trust (OTC Pink: SBKT), based in Gallatin, Tennessee (“Sumner”).
