    Austin Peay State University Governors Bass Tournament kicks off Saturday, May 11th

    Clarksville, TN – The 19th annual Austin Peay State University Governors Bass Tournament is this Saturday, May 11th.

    This year’s competition will be held at Kentucky Lake, with registration and boat launching from Paris Landing State Park in Buchanan Tennessee. Last season’s tourney drew more than 250 boats.

    Montgomery County and City of Clarksville Mayors Sign Safe Boating Week Proclamation

    Montgomery CountyMontgomery County, TN – A National Safe Boating Week Proclamation was signed on April 30th, 2013 by Montgomery County Mayor Carolyn Bowers, and City of Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan declaring May 18th thru May 27th, 2013 a special week, as the busy season of water activities begin and the public participates in many water based recreational activities.

    Montgomery County Horseshoe Pits Ceremony Postponed

    Montgomery CountyMontgomery County, TN – Due to the predicted inclement weather, Montgomery County Government will postpone the Grand Opening Ceremony for the Horseshoe Pits at Civitan Park until Saturday, June 8th at 9:00am. More event details will be released closer to the event.

    Montgomery CountyMontgomery County, TN – Montgomery County Government invites the public to the Grand Opening Ceremony for the Horseshoe Pits at Civitan Park on Saturday, May 11th at 9:00am.

    The horseshoe pits are located on the backside of the baseball fields at Civitan Park, 650 Bellamy Lane. The ceremony will also include the rededication of the Marvin Smith Pavilion.

    SummertimeClarksville, TN – Have you noticed, it’s almost summer? Spring sneaked up on us while we were still in heavy sweaters and earmuffs—and did I mention raincoats and umbrellas. Tennessee is getting warmer by the day and the nights have lost most of their chill.

    Flowers are beginning to peek out of Winter crusty homes.

    Mini elephant ears are waving hello and butterflies are beginning to try their wet wrinkled wings before they try to fly.

    Shemberger places in top 10 age group at Rev3 Olympic Triathlon

    Restore Performance MassageClarksville, TN – Russ Shemberger, a licensed sports massage therapist at Restore Performance Massage on Madison Street in Clarksville, finished sixth in his age group in the Rev3 Olympic Triathlon held Sunday, May 5th in Knoxville, Tennessee.

    Shemberger finished the approximately 1-mile swim, 25-mile bike and 6.2-mile run with a total time of 2:41 and placed sixth in his age group (male 45-49).

    Clarksville Parks and Recreation celebrates National Kids to Parks Day with two fun events

    Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – Saturday, May 18th is National Kids to Parks Day! The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department is celebrating with two events that can get children out of the house and having a ball.

    The Spring Family Campout will be held Saturday, May 18th at Billy Dunlop Park, located at 1930 East Boy Scout Road. Families can camp overnight at the park for only $20.00 per family, up to six members, or $5.00 per individual.     Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – For Dr. John Volker, the establishment of the new Center for Entrepreneurship at Austin Peay State University “is a dream come true.”

    “My excitement knows no boundaries,” Volker, a professor in the APSU College of Business, said.

    Volker will serve as director of the new center, which was officially announced during a special event May 3rd on campus.
