Clarksville-Montgomery County Economic Development Council Becomes Green Certified

Clarksville Parks and Recreation reports Liberty Park Pond closed June 3rd-10th
Clarksville, TN – In order to provide a fun experience for participants in the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) Youth Fishing Rodeo on Saturday, June 8th. We ask that the public refrain from using the pond at Liberty Park beginning at 6:00am on Monday, June 3rd through 2:00pm on Monday, June 10th.

Annual Kiwanis Rodeo this Friday and Saturday
Clarksville, TN – The Downtown Kiwanis Club is hosting its annual Kiwanis Rodeo at the Montgomery County 4-H Arena Friday, May 31st and Saturday, June 1st.
The gates open at 6:00pm and the Rodeo starts at 8:00pm both nights. This is a PRCA and WPRA sanctioned Rodeo.

Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department invites citizens to take part, as waterparks, pools and other aquatic facilities across the world attempt to break the Guinness World Record of the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson on Tuesday, June 18th at Beachaven, New Providence, Swan Lake and Smith pools at 10:00am.

Clarksville, TN – Take a musical trip down memory lane at the Roxy Regional Theatre with the ’50s and ’60s musical comedy “The Marvelous Wonderettes”, opening Friday, May 31st, at 8:00pm.
Betty Jean (Heather Gault), Cindy Lou (Taylor Galvin), Missy (Ashley Harris) and Suzy (Elena Pascullo) are the Wonderettes, four girls with hopes and dreams as big as their crinoline skirts!

APSU Offers New Graduate Degree
Clarksville, TN – This fall, Austin Peay State University will offer a new graduate degree that will bring together science and business skills to give students a greater competitive advantage in the workforce. The Professional Science Masters, or PSM, will enable students to pursue advanced training in science or mathematics while developing workplace skills.
The PSM at APSU will be a fully online degree program, allowing students to work on a degree while continuing to hold employment. Students can pursue one of two concentrations – data management and analysis or predictive analytics. Fort Defiance to host Civil War Summer Camp
Clarksville, TN – The Fort Defiance Interpretive Center, located at 120 Duncan Street, is proud to host the City’s first Civil War Summer Camp for youth in the 5th and 6th grades.
The Civil War Summer Camp, instructed by Karel Biggs, focuses on the American Civil War. Students will learn more about the people, events, vocabulary, songs, food, drills, clothing and flags associated with the War.

Kenwood High School Students named ‘Volunteers of the Year’ for 2013 Rivers and Spires Festival
Clarksville, TN – The Rivers and Spires Festival is pleased to recognize Kenwood High School as the Clarksville-Montgomery County School with the most student volunteers working at the 2013 Festival.
The students were presented with a trophy and certificate recognizing their commitment to the community-driven event. The school boasted 34 volunteers this year, ten more than the second place school, with several of them coming from their JROTC program.
