APSU’s Polifonía Journal celebrates 10th anniversary with special issue and library display
Clarksville, TN – This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Austin Peay State University (APSU) bilingual (Spanish and English), scholarly, peer-reviewed journal, Polifonía Journal. The journal, first launched in 2011, is dedicated to scholarly essays about literature and film in the Hispanic world and offers something different for its writers each year.

Downtown @ Sundown Concert Street Closures for October 2nd
Montgomery County, TN – On Friday, October 2nd, 2020 several streets will be closed off around the Downtown Commons for the free Jerrod Niemann concert, with opener Tyler Booth.
Country musician Tyler Booth, will be kicking off the evening as he opens for platinum-certified hitmaker country musician Jerrod Niemann. They are sure to bring first-class entertainment with a great combination of songs.

APSU virtual “Remembering Homecoming” celebration set for week of October 10th
Clarksville, TN – Due to the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic, Austin Peay State University recently announced it is moving its traditional fall homecoming activities from the week of October 10th, 2020 to the spring 2021 semester, in conjunction with the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) decision to postpone fall sports until spring.

Miss Austin Peay 2021 Noelle Thompson receives Congressional Award Gold Medal
Clarksville, TN – Noelle Thompson, Miss Austin Peay 2021, received a Congressional Award Gold Medal on Saturday, September 26th, 2020 at the Austin Peay State University (APSU) Morgan Student University Center Ballroom for spending more than 1,800 hours serving the community through the Break Through 4 a Buddy program.

Planters Bank Presents… “Jailhouse Rock” at the Roxy Regional Theatre, Friday
Clarksville, TN – Get ready to rock ‘n’ roll with the King at the Roxy Regional Theatre this weekend when Planters Bank Presents… “Jailhouse Rock” on their big screen this Friday, October 2nd, 2020 at 7:00pm.
In this raw-edged rock ‘n’ roll classic, Elvis Presley stars as hotheaded young singer Vince Everett, who goes to prison for accidentally killing a man in a barroom brawl while defending a young woman’s honor. After Everett’s cellmate teaches him how to play guitar and encourages him to sing, Everett’s hip-swiveling, electrifying performance at a jailhouse concert leads to stardom.

APSU successful in accreditation process
Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) recently completed its fifth-year accreditation review successfully without requiring any additional reports.
The review, which is part of the overall accreditation process from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), is completed by institutions approximately half way between the full 10-year reaffirmation process.

Customs House Museum to reopen Explorers’ Landing and Family Art Studio, October 4th
Clarksville, TN – For the first time in over six months, the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center is reopening Explorers’ Landing and the Kiwanis Family Art Studio.
