Clarksville’s Riverfest Tour d’Art Exhibits and Competition Registration underway now
Clarksville, TN – Registration is currently underway for the Riverfest Tour d’Art Exhibits and Competition. This year’s competition will feature the following three exhibits: Amateur & Professional Divisions, High School Division, and the Senior Citizens’ Division.
Artwork is displayed at exhibits at various locations in downtown Clarksville, and then juried, and over $2,500 in prizes is awarded.

Clarksville’s Customs House Museum to host Wizard of Oz Exhibit sponsored by Planters Bank

Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s Movies in the Park to give free showing of “Les Miserables” this Saturday
Clarksville, TN – Join Clarksville Parks and Recreation this Saturday, August 17th, at Liberty Park for this week’s Movies in the Park event, featuring the Oscar winning movie, “Les Miserables,” which is rated PG-13.
Les Miserables takes place in 19th century France where Jean Valjean breaks parole and is hunted by policeman Javert. Later he agrees to take care of factory worker Fantine’s daughter, Cosette. That decision changes their lives forever.

Clarksville Arts & Heritage Development Council looking for Artwork Submissions for 2014 Arts & Heritage Cultural Calendar
Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Arts & Heritage Development Council (AHDC) is putting out a call to artists who are interested in having their work featured in its sixth annual Cultural Calendar.
Each month will feature an artist’s work and highlight arts and heritage events of the past and present. Submitted work will be juried to determine which piece is featured each month, as well as which artwork appears on the cover.

Dunbar Cave State Park Programs for August 13th through August 17th, 2013
Clarksville, TN – Dunbar Cave State Natural Area has been a State Park since 1973. The cave and its surrounding 110 acres have considerable scenic, natural and historical significance. The entrance offered shelter to prehistoric Native Americans as far back as 10,000 years.
Dunbar Cave State Natural Area will present many nature programs this summer. There are programs for children and adults.
Upcoming events include: Wildflower Evening Hike, Nature Readings: Bats, Mudbugs and Frogs, Trees Are Terrific, Wildflower Walk, and Aquatic Critters of Swan Lake!

Clarksville Parks and Recreation Seeking Citizens Ideas for Burchwood Park
Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville’s Parks & Recreation Department will conduct a Neighborhood Input Workshop on Tuesday, August 27th at 6:30pm regarding the future of Burchwood Park. Burchwood Park is a mini-park located at 2608 Burch Street just off of Fort Campbell Blvd. in North Clarksville and is a park in transition and ready for upgrades.
Park background will be presented, along with discussion about park needs, themes, and other issues affecting the park design and the neighborhood. In addition, a short questionnaire will be distributed to the citizens to obtain priority projects to ultimately develop a Conceptual Master Plan for the Park. «Read the rest of this article»
Montgomery County High School Fall Baseball League announces sign-ups
Clarksville, TN – The Montgomery County High School Fall Baseball League has announced registration will be Wednesday August 21st from 5:00pm-6:00pm at Clarksville High School.
The purpose of this league is to give area high school baseball players an opportunity to play in a competitive, instructional fall league in Clarksville. Skill development during game situations is the main objective during this fall league.
