Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Montgomery County Education Foundation, 100% Graduation Committee and event sponsors announce the 3rd Annual Get Motivated Class of 2018 assembly for all Clarksville-Montgomery County freshmen.

The Headless Horseman Rides at the Roxy Regional Theatre in “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” starting October 10th
Clarksville, TN – The Headless Horseman rides this fall at the Roxy Regional Theatre! Washington Irving’s classic tale “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” opens for the Roxy’s traditional pay-what-you-can preview on Friday, October 10th, at 8:00pm.
John McDonald’s world premiere adaptation breathes new life into an old story which has entertained readers and influenced writers of horror for almost 200 years and features two of literature’s most iconic characters: Ichabod Crane and the Headless Horseman.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation extends registration for Youth Basketball League
Clarksville, TN – Does your child want to play basketball this season? There’s still time to register your child for this season of Youth Basketball, but you’d better hurry! Registration for the Youth Basketball League has been extended to midnight, October 12th.
Practices will be held at local school gymnasiums beginning November 3rd and games will be held at the City’s three community centers beginning December 6th. Parents will be contacted by their coach prior to the start of practices to let them know where and when their child will practice.

Annual Stompfest Step Competition to be held on October 11th
Clarksville, TN – On Saturday, October 11th step teams, praise dancers and mime groups will come together at Stomp-Fest for Christ and raise the rafters at Clement Auditorium. The event will be held at Austin Peay State University.
This is the 14th year for this ministry, and it has become one of the most popular and anticipated gospel events in Clarksville. This year’s event will be hosted by Mary Franklin, a minister of the Gospel, who is on fire for God.

APSU President’s Emerging Leaders Program Celebrating 25 Years On November 7th
Clarksville, TN – In 1989, Dr. Oscar Page, former president of Austin Peay State University, established a program to help cultivate leadership qualities in some of the University’s top students. The new President’s Emerging Leaders Program (PELP) went on to create a new generation of empathetic leaders who embodied the program’s values of “honesty, humility, academic rigor, leadership and service.”

Diabetes, Cardiovascular-Disease Patients should pursue regular hearing checks
Clarksville, TN – The prevalence of hearing loss increases with every decade of age and is closely tied to several ailments, including diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
A 2008 study by the National Institutes of Health revealed that hearing loss is about twice as common in those with diabetes compared to those without, and a 2005 Harvard study found that hearing loss occurs about 54% more often in those with heart disease compared to the general population.

Austin Peay State University to host Homecoming Scholarship 5K November 1st
Clarksville, TN – This year’s Austin Peay State University Homecoming theme, Gov Strong, will take on an added meaning on November 1st as University alumni and supporters push themselves to complete the 2014 Scholarship 5K Run.
The race, through a USA Track and Field certified course, will begin at 9:00am that Saturday at the Pace Alumni Center at Emerald Hill. The challenge that day will come toward the end of the run, when tired participants tackle the steep hill in front of the alumni center. Clarksville’s Dunbar Cave State Park Programs for October 9th through October 11th, 2014
Clarksville, TN – Dunbar Cave State Natural Area has been a State Park since 1973. The cave and its surrounding 110 acres have considerable scenic, natural and historical significance. The entrance offered shelter to prehistoric Native Americans as far back as 10,000 years.
Dunbar Cave State Natural Area will present many nature programs this summer. There are programs for children and adults.
Some of the upcoming events include: Walk With the Naturalist, History of Dunbar Cave and Bird Hike.
