Bulgarian Artist Dolly Georgieva-Gode Displays ‘Colorful Visions’ at Planters Bank in October
Clarksville, TN – The Planters Bank-Hilldale Gallery will feature works by Bulgarian artist Dolly Georgieva-Gode from Thursday, October 1st – Wednesday, November 4th. Georgieva-Gode works in colored pencils, oils, and oil pastels to create vibrant colorful images. She pays great attention to detail and enjoys experimenting with variety of techniques.
“I like surprising my viewers and myself with always producing something new, exciting and provocative,” she says. “Exploring my inner emotions while going through the metamorphosis of life is what inspires me as an artist. A lot of my works have deeper meaning and symbolism that go beyond the surface of the painting.”

APSU to host evening of traditional Japanese dance on October 5th
Clarksville, TN – On a warm summer evening, Dr. David Rands, Austin Peay State University associate professor of history, put on a dress shirt and tie and headed to the cultural and political center of Tokyo.
The Supreme Court of Japan stood to his south, and only a few blocks away, surrounded by a moat, was the famed Imperial Palace.

Middle College Students Shine in APSU Freshman Peay Read Project

Clarksville, TN – Each year, Austin Peay State University selects a novel for incoming freshman. This year the selection was “Where am I Wearing: A Global Tour to the Countries, Factories, and People That Make Our Clothes” by Kelsey Timmerman.
The novel develops an understanding of the people and places that create the fashion we wear; as well as the global impact of the garment industry.

Austin Peay State University Honors Program to screen “Welcome to Leith” as part of film series
Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University Honors Program begins another year of its Honors Film Series when it presents “Welcome to Leith” on Wednesday, September 30th at 7:00pm in the Honors Commons classroom.
“Welcome to Leith” documents the attempt by white supremacist Craig Cobb to take over the North Dakota town of Leith, a community with a population of 24 people. As Cobb acquires property and invites other extremists to join him, tensions escalate, with the neighbors themselves employing questionable means to rid their town of its newly arrived but unwanted residents. «Read the rest of this article»
Dunbar Cave State Park Programs for October 2nd through October 6th, 2015
Clarksville, TN – Dunbar Cave State Natural Area has been a State Park since 1973. The cave and its surrounding 110 acres have considerable scenic, natural and historical significance. The entrance offered shelter to prehistoric Native Americans as far back as 10,000 years.
Dunbar Cave State Natural Area will present many nature programs during the year. There are programs for children and adults.
Some of the upcoming events include: Nature Hike, Interpretive Morning Hike, Birding/Nature Appreciation Hike, Port Royal Botanical Hike, Evening to Night Hike and Butterfly Garden Stroll.

Nashville art exhibit showcases APSU Department of Art and Design
Clarksville, TN – This October, the L Gallery in downtown Nashville will present works by Austin Peay State University art and designfaculty and students as part of a multi-discipline exhibit, titled “The One and the Many.”
The exhibit, curated by APSU student Sara Straussberger, will open with a reception from 6:00pm-9:00pm on October 3rd at the gallery, in space 72 of The Arcade in Nashville.

APSU’s Grace Moodt named to National Administrator Institute
Indianapolis, OH – Dr. Grace Moodt, interim director of the Austin Peay State University School of Nursing, was invited to participate in Sigma Theta Tau International’s (STTI) inaugural cohort of the Emerging Educational Administrator Institute(EEAI).
The STTI/Chamberlain College of Nursing Center for Excellence in Nursing Education administers the institute thanks to a grant from the Chamberlain College of Nursing.
