Austin Peay State University Department of Mathematics and Statistics places second in MAA Math Jeopardy competition

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s Department of Mathematics and Statistics recently recorded another strong showing as its Math Jeopardy team placed second in a 24-school field during the 2016 Mathematical Association of America (MAA) Jeopardy championship.

Tribute to late educator Dr. Preston J. Hubbard to be held March 30th at Austin Peay
Clarksville, TN – A memorial to the life of former Austin Peay State University professor — and World War II hero — Dr. Preston J. Hubbard will take place March 30th at 5:00pm at the Preston Hubbard Veteran’s Colonnade on the University campus.
The event is open to the public, and all are invited to pay tribute to an educator who touched the lives of countless students, colleagues and friends.

Trane to hold Community Yard Sale to Benefit USO Fort Campbell, April 9th

CMCSS Offers Four Summer Academy-Themed Camps
Montgomery County, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System (CMCSS) will be offering four different academy-themed camps for students this summer.
They include: a STEM Exploration Camp at Kenwood High School; a Create Workshop at Rossview High School; a MediCamp at Northwest High School; and an Ag Summer Camp at Montgomery Central High School.
All of the three-day camps are $40.00 each.

Former Austin Peay State University Ag students honor “Doc” Hunt with endowed scholarship
Clarksville, TN – Local farmers call him “Doc,” but don’t let the informal nickname fool you. Whenever they see Dr. Gaines Hunt, retired Austin Peay State University professor of Agriculture, the word “Doc” sounds oddly formal.
“It’s a nickname, yes, but also a term of endearment and used with the highest level of admiration and respect,” Steve Settle, a Montgomery County farmer and former student of Hunt’s, said. “Each and every one of his students—myself included—will attest that we are better people, better leaders and better able to serve our chosen professions because of his influence in our lives.”

14th Annual Downtown Artists Co-op Art Auction and Fundraiser to be held this Saturday, April 2nd
Clarksville, TN – The Downtown Artists Co-op (DAC) 14th Annual Auction will be held Saturday, April 2nd, 6:00pm-8:00pm. The venue will be F&M Bank’s beautiful Franklin Room, just up the street from DAC at 50 Franklin Street. The event will include both a live auction for large original works and a silent auction for small-medium pieces.
The Annual Auction is DAC’s only fundraising event each year. The auction raises funds to support the DAC mission of promoting the Visual Arts in Clarksville and it gives DAC Members a chance to provide a delightful evening for our patrons, sponsors and friends.

22nd Annual Austin Peay Governors Bass Tournament to be held May 14th

Clarksville, TN – The 22nd annual APSU Governors Bass Tournament is less than two months away.
This year’s edition will be held Saturday, May 14th, at Kentucky Lake, with registration and boat launching from Paris Landing State Park. Last season’s tourney drew more than 200 boats.
The tournament will benefit Austin Peay State University athletics. More than $12,000 dollars in prize money will be awarded.

Harper Greene Benefit Supper and Singing to be held Saturday, April 2nd
Cunningham, TN – On Saturday, April 2nd, 2016, a Benefit Supper and Singing will be held for Harper Greene at Montgomery Central Elementary School from 5:00pm until 8:00pm.
Harper Greene was diagnosed in December, 2015 with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) at the age of 2. He is the son of Nick and Chasidy Greene.
