APSU nursing faculty presents at international conference in South Africa
Clarksville, TN – Three Austin Peay State University School of Nursing professors traveled to South Africa earlier this summer to speak about their research at the 27th Sigma Theta Tau International Research Congress.
The congress, with more than 800 nurse researchers from 33 different countries, is the largest nursing research event in the world.

Clarksville Chamber, IDB Team Up for ‘Soft Skills’ Power Breakfast
Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce and Clarksville-Montgomery County Industrial Development Board are partnering to sponsor a Power Breakfast on Tuesday, September 20th, 2016. The event begins at 7:30am and will be held at the Riverview Inn, 50 College Street.
Greg Coker, author, speaker and former executive will discuss work-ready skills such as communication, problem solving, customer service, teamwork and conflict resolution.

Sixth annual I Scream for FUEL, Ice Cream Freeze-Off takes place Saturday, August 27th
Clarksville, TN — The Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Antioch United Methodist Church, Marion United Methodist Church and Salem United Methodist Church along with the Lone Oak Baptist Church and Memorial Baptist Church will host the sixth annual I Scream for FUEL, Ice Cream Freeze-Off.
The event is to raise much needed funds to support the FUEL program that provides non-perishable, easy to prepare food items for young children in the Montgomery County Schools.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s 6th annual Sportsfest Features Family Fun
Clarksville, TN – The sixth-annual Sportsfest sponsored by Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department was held Saturday, August 20th at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center located within Liberty Park at 1188 Cumberland Drive.
Scores of families attended the display of sports groups’ information and numerous activities outdoors.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation staff activates a healthier workplace
Clarksville, TN – In true “walk the talk” fashion, the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department is demonstrating the city’s commitment to building a healthier and more successful community.
The Governor’s Foundation for Health and Wellness recently named the department a Healthier Tennessee Workplace for encouraging employees to live a healthy lifestyle – both at work and at home.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation staff members walk the Upland Trail as part of the department’s fitness challenge. The daily walks and other programs helped the department earn commendation as the state’s first Healthier Tennessee Workplace.

Austin Peay State University’s Chris boyd Taylor creator of new art installation to give lecture August 30th
Clarksville, TN – Internationally acclaimed artist and sculptor Chris Boyd Taylor is the creator of Austin Peay State University’s newest permanent art installation, “The Cardboard Kids,” and he returns to campus for an official unveiling and artist talk at 3:00pm on Tuesday, August 30th in the Morgan University Center, Room 303.
A reception will precede the event at 2:30pm.

Sunrise Century Bicycle Tour set for Saturday, September 3rd
Clarksville, TN – Looking for a challenge or family friendly activity for Labor Day weekend? The Sunrise Century Bicycle Tour may be the thing for you!
On Saturday, September 3rd, 2016 four different routes will begin at Rossview High School. Ranging from the Elite 100 which is the most challenging, a 100 mile self-paced, a 62 mile and a family friendly 33 mile route.

Austin Peay Department of Computer Science and Information Technology announces creation of three new bachelor’s degrees
Clarksville, TN – To keep pace with the evolving needs of both students and employers, Austin Peay State University’s Department of Computer Science and Information Technology has made a number of changes to its current degree offering.
Beginning with the Fall 2016 semester, students making progress toward a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Information Systems may now pursue a B.S. in three new majors: computer science, computer information systems and computer information technology.

“Fresh Research, New Discoveries” Coming to Fort Defiance
Clarksville, TN – Learn more about Clarksville’s Fort Defiance as members of the Austin Peay State University History Club present new research related to the historical site at the fort’s newest event, “Fresh Research, New Discoveries” on Saturday, August 27th.
Presentations will take place from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at the Fort Defiance Interpretive Center, located at 120 Duncan Street.
