Military and Veteran Graduate Recognition Ceremony December 7th for APSU Fall Graduates
Clarksville, TN – Active duty military and veteran students graduating from Austin Peay State University in December will be honored with an APSU military coin and a special cord to wear with their commencement regalia.
The military and veteran graduate recognition and coin presentation ceremony, with the theme “All Hail to Those Who Serve,” is scheduled for 5:00pm, Wednesday, December 7th in the Mabry Concert Hall, located inside the Music/Mass Communication Building on the University campus. The event is open to the public.

Clarksville-Montgomery County Arts and Heritage Development Council lifetime Achievement Awards to be held Monday, December 5th
Clarksville, TN – Two Clarksvillians will be honored this Monday, December 5th, by the Clarksville-Montgomery County Arts and Heritage Development Council for their achievement in art and in preserving our heritage.
Dr. James Diehr, professor emeritus of art at Austin Peay State University, will receive the Lifetime Achievement in Art award and Inga Filippo, APSU professor emerita of library science, will receive the Lifetime Achievement in Heritage award.

Cumberland Arts Centre Dinner Theatre’s Christmas Show begins December 9th
Clarksville, TN – Make your reservations now for the upcoming production of “Sorry! Wrong Chimney” at the Cumberland Arts Centre scheduled for December 9th, 10th, 16th and 17th. The annual Christmas productions usually sell out early and this show will be no exception.
Starring a cast of local favorites and some new faces, this yuletide farce is sure to be a crowd pleaser. Cumberland Arts Center veterans, Nicole June, Alex Maynard, Glen Pafford, Bailey Thompson and Colleen Hyder join newcomers, Amy Snider and Brett LaGore, in this comedy written by Jack Sharkey and Leo W. Sears and directed by Art Conn.

Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library to hold Busy Bee’s Story Time Monday, December 5th
Clarksville, TN – On Monday, December 5th, 2016 the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library will hold Busy Bee’s Story Time from 9:30am until 10:00am.
The Busy Bees for 2’s and 3’s program is designed for children ages 2 and 3 years old, and is an interactive program for parent and child.

Red River Breeze Brings “A Celtic Christmas” Back for the Second Year to the Roxy Regional Theatre on Sunday, December 11
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville’s own traditional acoustic Celtic band is bringing their unique brand of Christmas cheer to the corner of Franklin and First for the second year in a row.
In a much-anticipated follow-up to last year’s “Celtic Christmas Concert,” Red River Breeze will perform classic holiday tunes and carols with a Celtic flair at the Roxy Regional Theatre on Sunday, December 11th, at 3:00pm.
The group’s previous shows at the Roxy, including one held this past July, have consistently sold out. And, with ticket sales already strong, this December’s concert appears to be following the same course.

Austin Peay State University professor Scanlan named editor-in-chief of Clinical Laboratory Science
Flagship journal for American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science
Clarksville, TN – Dr. Perry Scanlan, Austin Peay State University professor of allied health sciences, was appointed by the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS) as editor-in-chief of Clinical Laboratory Science, the flagship peer-reviewed journal of the ASCLS. He will begin his term starting in January 2017.

“Planters Bank Presents…” Film Series
Clarksville, TN – The “Planters Bank Presents…” film series next movie will be “White Christmas”. This movie will be shown this Sunday, December 4th, 2016 at the Roxy Regional Theatre at 2:00pm.
“Raiders of the Lost Ark” is about singers Bob Wallace and Phil Davis joining sister act Betty and Judy to perform a Christmas show in rural Vermont. There, they run into General Waverly, the boys’ commander in World War II, who, they learn, is having financial difficulties.

APSU’s Acuff Circle seeking nominations for Ovation Awards
Clarksville, TN – The coveted Acuff Circle of Excellence Ovation Awards in the arts will be presented March 5th, 2017, but nominations already are being sought.
The Circle, a non-profit organization affiliated with the Austin Peay State University Foundation, is a patron society of the Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts. The awards have been presented since 1996.
