    Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certification ProgramMontgomery County, TN – The Customs House Museum & Cultural Center is the first organization of 2017 to celebrate their Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certification.

    Montgomery County Mayor Jim Durrett, City of Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan, Chamber of Commerce Director Melinda Shepard, several CMC Green Certification Steering Committee Members and several Museum Board Members attended their green ribbon cutting.

    Fort Defiance Interpretive Center to commemorate the 155th Anniversary of the Surrender of Clarksville

    Fort Defiance Interpretive CenterClarksville, TN – Fort Defiance Interpretive Center, located at 120 Duncan Street, will host a living history event to commemorate the 155th anniversary of the surrender of Fort Defiance to Union soldiers in 1862 from 10:00am to 3:00pm on Saturday, February 25th, 2017.

    Visitors can see uniformed Civil War re-enactors from Porter’s Battery who will provide living history and canon firing demonstrations.

    Clarksville’s Ajax Turner Senior Citizens Center addition 60% complete

    $2.7 million addition scheduled to open in July

    City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – Work continues on a $2.7 million addition to the Ajax Turner Senior Citizens Center, which will provide improved quality of life for more Clarksville residents.

    The new 14,600 square foot, two-story structure will provide more space for programs and services for the center’s growing number of seniors who drop in for meals, activities, classes and recreation.

    The precast subfloor was installed in late January for the 14,600 square foot addition to Ajax Turner Senior Center. The $2.7 million project is expected to be completed in July.

    Mayor McMillan urges motorists to slow down and be patient

    City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – With several intersection improvement projects under way, travel is tough on the southernmost route connecting Interstate 24 at Exit 11 with downtown Clarksville.

    City of Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan urges patience and caution, especially on this route that includes roads with several names and numbers: State Route 76/Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway, U.S. Highway 41A Bypass and State Route 112.

    Roxy Regional Theatre stages “The Diary of Anne Frank”, February 17th – March 4th

    Clarskville's Roxy Regional TheatreClarksville, TN – The Roxy Regional Theatre opens its production of “The Diary of Anne Frank” this Friday.

    The play is based on the diary kept by its namesake during the two years she and her family spent in hiding from the Nazis. The Frank family was eventually apprehended and Anne died of typhus in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp.

    Her father, Otto Frank, was the family’s only survivor and had a hand in getting his daughter’s writing published. Today the diary has been published in more than 60 languages.

    Tennessee high school students can earn college credit through APSU’s online dual enrollment program

    Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Thanks to Austin Peay State University’s statewide, dual enrollment program, GovNow, high school juniors and seniors from across Tennessee can now get a jumpstart on their college careers, and potentially save more than $7,000 on tuition for a four-year degree.

    A major component of GovNow (a reference to APSU’s mascot, the Governor) is the incentive that students can earn four college-level classes for free.

    Montgomery County Animal Care and Control waves adoption fees through February 18th

    Montgomery County Animal Care and ControlMontgomery County, TN -Montgomery County Animal Care and Control is waiving adoption fees during the week of Valentine’s Day (February 13th-18th) to help unite pets with their sweethearts. Animals who are already spayed or neutered can go home for $12.00. Adoption fees will be waived for the entire week.

    In addition, a discounted microchipping event will be held Saturday, February 18th from 10:00am to 4:00pm.
