Cumberland Arts Centre Dinner Theatre to hold auditions for “Barefoot in the Park” March 6th and 7th
Clarksville, TN – The Cumberland Arts Centre Dinner Theatre will hold auditions for Neil Simon’s “Barefoot In the Park” at 7:00pm on Monday March 6th and Tuesday March 7th. Cast includes young couple that can play mid 20’s; Female to play 40 – 60; Male 40 – 60; and two adult males of any age.
Those wishing to audition will be asked to read from the script. No resume or headshot is required. Auditions are open to the public. Production dates are scheduled for April 7th, 8th, 14th, 15th.

Clarksville Montgomery County School System to begin Voluntary Pre K programs registration in April
Montgomery County, TN – Registration for the Clarksville Montgomery County School System (CMCSS) Voluntary Pre K programs begins in April.
You may register your child at any registration site regardless of school zone.

City of Clarksville Street Department offers free pickup of yard debris
Material must be placed in paper bags or boxes
Clarksville, TN – Once again as spring approaches, the Clarksville Street Department will offer free pickup of yard debris, leaves and limbs.
The spring service period will begin Monday, March 13th and continue through April 10th. Yard debris, such as leaves and clippings, must be placed in biodegradable paper bags or cardboard boxes and placed near the street.

Applications due April 3rd for City of Clarksville non-profit funding
Qualifying charitable or civic organizations may apply
Clarksville, TN – Qualified non-profit charitable or civic organizations serving Clarksville have an opportunity to seek the City’s financial support on a limited basis.
The City is authorized under state statute (TCA 6-54-111) to appropriate money for non-profit organizations. The law also outlines which non-profit charitable or civic organizations are eligible.

“Ain’t I a Woman!” to headline Asanbe Diversity Symposium at Austin Peay State University on March 16th
Clarksville, TN – Slated for next month at Austin Peay State University, The Asanbe Diversity Symposium will spotlight the lives of four powerful African American women with a performance of “Ain’t I a Woman!” by nationally acclaimed performance group, The Core Ensemble.
The performance takes place on March 16th at 1:00pm in the Trahern Theatre. A panel discussion will take place at 2:30pm in the Wilbur N. Daniel African-American Cultural Center. The Asanbe Diversity Symposium is free and open to the public.

New City of Clarksville regulation limits parking near intersections
New rule prohibits parking within 25 feet of crossing streets
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville’s Parking Commission has approved a new regulation that prohibits on-street parking within 25 feet of an intersection.
The regulation, which amends the City parking code, is designed to enhance safety and visibility near intersections, especially in subdivisions and on neighborhood streets.
A red car recently parked near Austin Peay State University appears to be in violation of a new City regulation prohibiting parking within 25 feet of an intersection.

Austin Peay State University student newspaper staff wins 10 awards at Southeast Journalism Conference
Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University student newspaper, The All State, earned 10 awards from the Southeast Journalism Conference, including first place and second place for Best Press Photography, during the annual conference in Oxford, Mississippi on Friday, February 17th, 2017.
The All State staff won 10 awards Friday at Southeast Journalism Conference.

Mobile Mammography Coach coming to Hilltop Supermarket Saturday, March 4th
Clarksville, TN – On Saturday, March 4th, 2017, the Saint Thomas Health Our Mission in Motion Mobile Mammography Coach will be at Hilltop Supermarket’s parking lot from 9:00am until 3:00pm.
The coach provides mammography for women who cannot afford the time away from work for appropriate screenings. It also helps women with no insurance through support from organizations like Susan G. Komen.

Clarksville, TN – The “Planters Bank Presents…” film series next movie is the epic high fantasy adventure film, “The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Rings”. This movie will be shown this Sunday, March 5th, 2017 at the Roxy Regional Theatre at 2:00pm.
Set in mythic pre-historic times, a young hobbit named Frodo Baggins inherits a magic ring from his elderly cousin Bilbo. Wise to the powers that the magic ring holds, the dark Lord Sauron wants it, knowing it will enable him to enslave the people of Middle Earth.

Trio of APSU Honors Program students present at state conference
Clarksville, TN – Three Austin Peay State University students recently presented their research at the annual Tennessee Collegiate Honors Council Conference, held February 18th at Motlow State Community College in Tullahoma.
Hannah McGinnity, Malena Landon and Shelia Johnson, all members of the Honors Program at Austin Peay, joined high achieving students from across the state at the event, which serves as the Council’s annual meeting of college honors students, faculty and administrators.
