Clarksville BBQ Bash set for October 7th at Liberty Park
Barbecue bragging rights, great food and a good time will be up for grabs October 7th
Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department and SERVPRO of Montgomery County Fire & Water Cleanup & Restoration Company have teamed up to host a full barbecue competition experience.
The Clarksville BBQ Bash is free to the public and will be from 11:00am to 5:00pm Saturday, October 7th, 2017 at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center at Liberty Park, 1188 Cumberland Drive.

F&M Bank Blood Drive to be held October 2nd
Clarksville, TN – On October 2nd, 2017, the Blood Assurance Blood Mobile and the F&M FunMobile are teaming up for a Blood Drive at F&M Bank’s Main Office parking lot located at 50 Franklin Street in Downtown Clarksville. The event will go from 10:00am until 3:00pm.
Blood Assurance will be giving all donors a FREE “One Cool Donor” t-shirt and your choice of “I Bleed” football themed socks! You will also be entered to win a $250.00 gift card to Walmart!

New Providence Pool opens for indoor season October 1st
Indoor facility offers swim lessons, fitness classes and special events
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s New Providence Pool, the only public indoor pool in the City of Clarksville, opens for its fall and winter indoor season on Sunday, October 1st, 2017.
New Providence Pool is at 168 Cunningham Lane, off Fort Campbell Boulevard. The pool offers swim lessons, water fitness classes, lap swim, and open swimming through May.

APSU’s Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts announces 2017-18 Tennessee Artist Fellow
Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts (CECA, or “seek-ah”) is pleased to announce that Andrew Scott Ross, of Johnson City, is the 2017-18 recipient of the Tennessee Artist Fellowship.
The CECA Tennessee Artist Fellowship was created to celebrate contemporary art and to support the continued creative work of exceptional Tennessee artists.

Inaugural Film Genre Festival brings sci-fi classics to APSU
Clarksville, TN – For five weeks in September and October, aliens, robots and a bleak, dystopian future will cast a shadow over Austin Peay State University’s Art and Design Building as the Department of Languages and Literature and the Film Studies minor present the inaugural Film Genre Festival.
On each Tuesday beginning September 26th and lasting through October 31st, a different film will be shown at 5:00pm in the Art and Design Building, room 120. All screenings are free and include an introduction from the Austin Peay professor who selected the film.

Friends of the Library Fall Book Sale to be held October 26th-28th, 2017
Clarksville, TN – The annual Friends of the Library fall book sale will be held October 26th-28th, 2017 at the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library.
On October 26th from 4:00pm-7:00pm, Friends of the Library members are welcome to enjoy the book sale. If you are not a member, you can become one at the door for $5.00.

Distinguished Steppers Unlimited of Clarksville to host 3rd Annual Pink Empowerment Event For Breast Cancer Awareness
Breast Cancer Awareness Event to be held at Kleeman Recreation Center
Clarksville, TN – On Saturday, September 30th, 2017 the Distinguished Steppers Unlimited (DSU) of Clarksville will kick-off this year’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a visual reminder of the importance breast health, early breast cancer detection and treatment.
The highlight of this event has been to assemble and trim a tree beautifully adorned in pink in recognition of the many breast cancer survivors and in memory of those who lost their fight with this disease. This year the group will continue the tradition of assembling a display at the Kleeman Recreation Center, this year’s reception event site.

CDE Lightband to hold Free Customer Expo
Clarksville, TN – CDE Lightband will host its annual Customer Expo on Saturday, September 30th, 2017 at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center from 10:00am to 2:00pm.

Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library offers Free Cooking Class this Saturday
Montgomery County, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library will be offering a free cooking class on Saturday, September 23rd from 10:00am to 12:00pm.
This is a program for the whole family to learn how to prepare simple healthy snacks and quick meals. The class is part of an ongoing cooking series that the library is offering.

Women Writers’ Hour Event at the Customs House Museum
Clarksville, TN – The Customs House Museum will kick off the month of October with a Writers’ Hour in conjunction with the exhibit This Is My Story. The event takes place on October 1st, 2017 at 2:00pm and will include readings by some of the women featured in the show.
Women writers representing multiple decades shared their thoughts of who they are on Mother’s Day. Their writings are suspended on cloth, hung “clothesline style” in the Museum’s Jostens Gallery.
