    F2 Con Gaming Convention Coming to Clarksville for Second Year

    Visit Clarksville TennesseeClarksville, TN – Visit Clarksville, CDE Lightband and Clarksville Parks and Recreation will host Clarksville’s second competitive gaming tournament, F2 Con, Thursday-Saturday, April 18th-20th at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center.

    The three-day competition offers tournament play, casual gaming, and fun for all ages with retro gaming, vendors and live streaming. All gaming will take place on CDE Lightband’s gigabit internet.

    Participants are able to search for plastic eggs floating or sunk to the bottom of the pool.

    AHDC receives $10,000 grant to offer arts experiences to military families

    Clarksville Arts and Heritage Development CouncilClarksville, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Arts and Heritage Development Council has received a $10,000 grant from the Tennessee Arts Commission to enfold active military, veterans and their families into Clarksville’s creative community.

    The Tennessee Arts Commission in partnership with the Tennessee Department of Veteran Services awarded nine Tennessee Military, Veterans & the Arts grants to organizations throughout the state. Two Montgomery County organizations, AHDC and Gateway Chamber Orchestra, were grant recipients.

    As part of the Tennessee Arts Commission Arts and Military grant, Arts for Hearts offered a wood burning class that filled so quickly they have added two additional classes with a waiting list.

    Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Forty years ago, Glenn Carter, an Austin Peay State University (APSU) sociology professor, volunteered to serve as the faculty advisor for a new organization, the Student Coalition for Gay Rights. It wasn’t an easy assignment.

    That February, the club’s students were told their organization had “no place at Austin Peay State University,” which meant they would not be recognized as an official student group.
