APSU students perform service work during winter break
Clarksville, TN – Two groups of Austin Peay State University (APSU) students and staff members over winter break traveled to New Orleans, Louisiana, and Savannah, Georgia, for Alternative Break Trips. One group volunteered with Peace by Piece of New Orleans, an organization dedicated to positively impacting communities of color.
The Art of Giving event to be held February 22nd in Clarksville
Clarksville, TN – DBO Gallery presents The Art of Giving, an upscale, live auction event featuring hand-selected artists, both local and out-of-state. The Art of Giving will take place at the Ruby Cora Saturday, February 22nd, 2020. Cocktail hour starts at 6:00pm with the auction set to begin at 7:00pm.
President of F&M Bank Sammy Stuard will conduct the live auction, presenting works by Olasubomi Aka-Bashorun, Erin Elise, Stephen Watkins, Omari Booker, Lorenzo Swinton, Ty Christian, Douglas Charlton, James Diehr, Chloe Bennett, Andrea Jacobson, and Justin Gaffrey.
APSU physics students launch hops into stratosphere for new Strawberry Alley beer
Clarksville, TN – In the waning light of a January afternoon, a group of Austin Peay State University (APSU) physics students pushed through branches and saplings as they hiked up a steep hill outside of Carthage, Tennessee.
The team of young researchers was looking for a high-altitude weather balloon they’d launched 93,000 feet into the stratosphere earlier that day.
CMCSS accepting Open Enrollment for the 2020-2021 School Year
Montgomery County, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System (CMCSS) is now accepting open enrollment applications for the 2020-2021 school year. The district offers several non-traditional schools and programs of choice for students.
Additionally, specific grade levels in seven elementary schools are available for open enrollment.

The wildly popular children’s favorite “Junie B. Jones: The Musical” opens at the Roxy Regional Theatre on Friday, January 24th, at 6:00pm. In keeping with the theatre’s traditional pay-what-you-can opening night, all tickets not pre-sold at the regular price will go on sale at 5:30pm that evening for a $5.00 minimum donation.
Clarksville Montgomery County School System announces City Save Coupon Book campaign begins January 17th

“The Vagina Monologues” at the Roxy Regional Theatre Supports the Sexual Assault Center
Clarksville, TN – Funny, outrageous, emotionally affecting and occasionally angry … Eve Ensler’s wildly popular series of monologues about women and performed by women is back for the eighteenth year with the Roxy Regional Theatre’s presentation of “The Vagina Monologues”, January 17th – February 1st.
This year, two members of the theatre’s professional company and a special guest from the community will take the stage of theotherspace, the 50-seat black-box theatre located upstairs at the Roxy, in readings of these monologues based on interviews Eve Ensler conducted with 200 women about their views on sex, relationships and violence against women.
Clarksville Parks and Recreation invites public to design workshop for inclusive playground
Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department is inviting citizens to participate in a two-day workshop on the design of a proposed new inclusive playground at the Clarksville Athletic Complex at Exit 8.
The workshop is from 6:00pm-7:30pm on January 16th at Freedom Point. The purpose is to show the community what inclusive play looks like and to gather ideas, thoughts and visions about how a new inclusive park could take shape in the Athletic Complex, which is in the design phase.
The goal is to formulate a path forward based on input from the community to create a playground for everyone to enjoy.
