APSU alumnus establishes the Emily Rawlins Allensworth Endowment in memory of his mother

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) alumnus Stephen K. Allensworth recently donated $28,000 to the APSU Foundation to honor the memory of his late mother by creating the Emily Rawlins Allensworth Endowment, an endowed scholarship program to benefit APSU students.
Emily was one of the first students to graduate from Austin Peay Normal School.
Zone 3 Press award winner Kelly Beard; naturalist, writer Janisse Ray to read at APSU

Clarksville, TN – Kelly J. Beard, 2017 Zone 3 Press Creative Nonfiction Book Award winner, and Janisse Ray, writer, naturalist and activist, will read from their works at 8:00pm February 21st at Austin Peay State University.
The reading – part of the Zone 3 Reading Series – is free and open to the public in Room 120 of the APSU Art + Design Building.

Clarksville, TN – The New Gallery at Austin Peay State University, with support from the APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts and the APSU Department of Art + Design, is pleased to present Gamaliel Rodriguez: Memorias Manipuladas to continue an exciting 2018-19 exhibition season.
The exhibit opens Monday, February 18th, at The New Gallery, located in the Art + Design building at APSU, and runs through March 22nd.

Children’s Auditions for “To Kill A Mockingbird” at Roxy Regional Theatre on Friday, February 15th

Clarksville, TN – Local youth will have the opportunity to work alongside professional actors when the Roxy Regional Theatre holds children’s auditions for the roles of Scout, Jem and Dill in “To Kill A Mockingbird” on Friday, February 15th, 2019 at 5:00pm.
Interested auditionees should email roxy@roxyregionaltheatre.org to be added to the audition list.
Children should come prepared with the Scout/Jem/Dill scene from the play, available at www.roxyregionaltheatre.org/auditions. To avoid distractions, parents will be asked to wait in the lobby during the auditions.

Mark S. and Martha Em Raby establish Claudell Wootton Art Education Endowment at APSU

Clarksville, TN – Mark S. and Martha Em Raby recently donated $25,000 to the Austin Peay State University (APSU) Foundation to establish the Claudell Wootton Art Education Endowment, an endowed scholarship program benefiting APSU students.
They chose to make their generous gift to honor the memory of Martha Em’s mother, Claudell Wootton.
APSU’s CECA announces 2018-2019 Tennessee Artist Fellow

Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts (CECA) recently announce that Bryce McCloud, of Nashville Tennessee, is the 2018-19 recipient of the Tennessee Artist Fellowship.
The CECA Tennessee Artist Fellowship was created to celebrate contemporary art and to support the continued creative work of exceptional Tennessee artists.

Bryce McCloud received this year’s Tennessee Artist Fellowship from the Austin Peay State University Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts.
2019 Polar Plunge raises over $10,000 for Special Olympics

Clarksville, TN – Dozens of brave souls signed up for this year’s Polar Plunge, which was held Saturday at Austin Peay State University’s Foy Fitness and Recreation Center Pool. Spectators enjoyed a very eclectic costume contest, followed by teams and individuals diving into the chilly water, all to support Tennessee Special Olympics.
‘Plungers’ who raised money for the cause were rewarded for their fund-raising efforts with post-plunge pizza. Some prizes were awarded for costume contest winners, as well as outstanding fund-raising achievement.
