Music 4 Mercy, The Beagles and Broadcast 90’s Will Entertain at the August Downtown@Sundown Concert

Clarksville, TN – This Friday, August 17th, 2018 Music 4 Mercy, a local soul and jazz group, and The Beagles, a local group that plays cover music spanning the decades from the 70s through now, will open for Broadcast 90’s, The Ultimate 90’s Rock Tribute band, playing homage to the last golden decade of guitar driven rock: the 1990’s, during the fourth concert in the six-part Downtown @ Sundown series.
“This will be a fantastic night of music in Downtown Clarksville at Downtown Commons. This Friday’s show is a triple threat featuring three top notch acts to include two local favorites, Music 4 Mercy and the Beagles,” stated Norman Quirion, Two Rivers Company Executive Director.

Montgomery County, TN – Tickets are on sale now for the 2018 Green Certification Banquet. Come enjoy a night dedicated to environmental stewardship and all things green. The banquet will be held Thursday, September 20th, 2018 at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center. Doors open at 5:30pm and the evening’s festivities will begin promptly at 6:00pm.
Sara Holloway Cox, Healthy Development Coordinator for the Tennessee Department of Health, will present “How Sustainability Impacts Personal and Community Health”. Attendees will also hear from Rebeckah Dopp, of ERS, who will discuss e-waste recycling in Middle Tennessee and Red Knight Distribution will show how Styrofoam is transformed into something totally new.

U.S. military veterans to get first priority in rental applications
Clarksville, TN – Three newly built homes in Clarksville are complete and available for rent to low-income families, with first priority going to U.S. military veterans, especially those with disabilities.
Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan helped cut the ribbon Monday morning on the three homes built by Buffalo Valley Inc., in the Providence Pointe subdivision.

Clarksville, TN – When Old Glory Distilling Company opened its doors in Clarksville in November 2016, the community didn’t realize a beautiful venue and tons of new events were part of the deal.
The 23,000 square foot facility includes a 7,000 sq. ft. multi-level event space that is privately booked most weekends for weddings and receptions, along with Distillery seasonal events like Dueling Pianos and a Craftsmen’s Fair. But, it’s also played host to community events like the Go Commando Half Marathon, the Customs House Museum’s Flying High, and the inaugural Bacon & Bourbon Festival planned for August 24th, 2018.
FSL program helping autism spectrum students succeed at APSU

Clarksville, TN – Chloe Sybert didn’t want help. She’d heard about the new Full Spectrum Learning (FSL) pilot program at Austin Peay State University (APSU), which assisted students diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, but she hesitated filling out the program’s application.

APSU’s Marea Blake, senior biology and social work major, became a mentor to support students with autism.
Call for Artwork Submissions for 2019 Arts & Heritage Cultural Calendar

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Arts & Heritage Development Council (AHDC) is putting out a call to artists who are interested in having their work featured in the 11th annual Cultural Calendar. Each month will feature an artist’s work and highlight upcoming arts and heritage events.
Submitted work will be juried to determine which piece is featured each month, as well as which artwork appears on the cover. As in years past, calendars will be available through AHDC’s website, as well as in the Customs House Museum’s “Seasons” gift shop and other locations around town.

The 1 Mile Fun Run will start at 8:00pm and the 5K will start at 8:30pm.

Civil Air Patrol squadron plans Open House at Clarksville Regional Airport
Fort Campbell 216th Composite Squadron
Clarksville, TN – The Fort Campbell 216th Composite Squadron, a local Civil Air Patrol unit, is hosting an open house from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Monday, August 27th, 2018 at the Clarksville Regional Airport, 200 Airport Road.
According to Capt James Kelly, squadron commander, the entire community is welcome to attend and learn more about Civil Air Patrol programs and special activities both for youth and adult members.
Members of the squadron will be present to greet visitors and explain the three core CAP missions of Aerospace Education, Cadet, and Emergency Services programs for America.
