APSU student advocates in D.C. to keep music education ‘vivid’ in all our schools

Clarksville, TN – Mackenzie Kelly is passionate. She’s passionate about playing the saxophone, but what really drives her at Austin Peay State University is her desire to gain a degree and help make a difference in children’s lives.
“I really want to be a voice for those who can’t advocate for themselves,” she said during a recent interview. “I believe music education is a good tool we can use to help disadvantaged students.”

Austin Peay State University’s Mackenzie Kelly was one of five Tennessee students and one of 119 students nationwide picked to attend the three-day summit and to advocate on Capitol Hill for the Guarantee Access to Arts & Music Education Act.

Jammin’ in the Alley features Joel Brown Band July 6th

Clarksville, TN – Jammin’ in the Alley, a free concert series on Strawberry Alley in the heart of downtown Clarksville, continues this week with a free concert and family fun.
The concert will be from 7:00pm-10:00pm Friday, July 6th, 2018 with a performance by the Joel Brown Band, a popular local band described as an eclectic mix of acoustic funk.

Hilltop Supermarket Car and Fireworks show draws large attendance
Clarksville, TN – Hilltop Supermarket put on a spectacular Car and Fireworks show for the community Friday night, June 29th, 2018. Hundreds of people came out to see one fantastic fireworks display.
The evening began with a car show setup beside the store. The car show consisted of vehicles, both classic and newer. There was even a drag racing funny car on display.
