Enrollment is open for Austin Peay State University’s EDGE Summer Video Game Development Camp
Clarksville, TN – This summer, area high school students can learn the skills needed to create their own video game as Austin Peay State University’s Department of Computer Science and Information Technology presents EDGE, the Educating Developing Games Experience summer camp.
The EDGE camp will be offered in two sessions, with the first session lasting from July 10th-14th and the second session taking place July 24th-28th. Each session lasts from 9:30am-3:30pm and all sessions take place at the Maynard Mathematics and Computer Science Building on the University campus.
City of Clarksville announces ‘Born Learning Trail’ coming to Liberty Park
Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan, United Way to dedicate trail June 21st
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan will help celebrate United Way Worldwide’s Day of Action at Liberty Park with the grand opening of the Born Learning Trail, an interactive set of activities for young children and their caregivers.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be at 2:00pm June 21st, 2017. Prior to the ceremony, from 8:00am to noon, 35 local United Way volunteers will help install the trail at Liberty Park.

A Born Learning Trail like this one will be installed at Liberty Park. The program was created by United Way Worldwide to promote activity and early learning opportunities for young children.
APSU’s GovNow dual enrollment program hosting June 29th open house for home school students
Clarksville, TN – At 1:00pm on Thursday, June 29th, 2017, Austin Peay State University’s GovNow Dual Enrollment program will host an open house for home school students and their parents in the Morgan University Center, Room 307.
GovNow allows high school juniors and seniors from across Tennessee to get a jumpstart on their college careers, and potentially save more than $7,000 on tuition toward a two-year or four-year degree.
Altra Federal Credit Union hosts Financial Summer Camps
Clarksville, TN – Altra Federal Credit Union hosted two Financial Summer Camps for children ages 8-12 on June 7th and 8th.
“Cash Camp and Money Smart Camp are two day camps aimed at helping children learn the basics of money management, emphasizing the importance of saving, spending, and sharing,” said Danielle Anderson, Youth Coordinator for Altra Federal Credit Union.

City of Clarksville, Tennessee Housing Development Agency thank lenders for helping homebuyers
Clarksville, TN – Several local lenders and real estate professionals received a hearty “thank you” this week from Ralph Perrey, executive director of the Tennessee Housing Development Agency, for their effectiveness in helping homebuyers use THDA programs.
Earlier this year, THDA announced a new program — Hardest Hit Fund Down Payment Assistance (HHF-DPA) program — which offers an additional $15,000 to homebuyers who use a THDA Great Choice mortgage to purchase a home in neighborhoods hard hit by the 2009 national economic downturn and have been slower to recover.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation seeks exhibitors and vendors for Clarksville Sportsfest
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation will host the sixth-annual Clarksville Sportsfest in August, and all sports-minded businesses and organizations are invited to participate.
Clarksville Sportsfest will be from 10:00am to 2:00pm, Saturday, August 19th at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center in Liberty Park, 1188 Cumberland Drive. It will offer a variety of sports, athletic and outdoor activities for the entire family.
Austin Peay History Students present new research at Fort Defiance event
Clarksville, TN – Members of the Austin Peay State University History Club recently had the opportunity to present new research related to Fort Defiance at the historical site’s newest event, titled “Fresh Research, New Discoveries.”
A partnership between APSU’s History Club, Phi Alpha Theta history honors society and Fort Defiance, and funded through a Student Academic Success Initiative grant from APSU faculty senate, “Fresh Research, New Discoveries” saw Austin Peay students John Schuler and Jenny Brown explore the histories of African American men and women during the Civil War.

Austin Peay Office of Public Relations and Marketing wins 13 awards at 2017 TCPRA Spring Conference
Clarksville, TN – The Office of Public Relations and Marketing at Austin Peay State University won 13 awards during the Tennessee College Public Relations Association (TCPRA) spring conference and awards contest held May 24th-26th in Gatlinburg Tennessee.
Cumberland Arts Centre announces Lauren Street to direct Beauty and the Beast
Clarksville, TN – The Cumberland Arts Centre is proud to announce that Lauren Street, M.F.A., will be directing the upcoming musical production of Disney’s® Beauty and the Beast in the upstairs theatre. She will also be holding classes for the newly formed School of Performing Arts at the theatre.
Lauren holds a Bachelor of Arts in Speech and Theatre from Middle Tennessee State University and a Master of Fine Arts in Theatre Performance from the University of Louisville.
