Leap Organization holds Annual Dining with the Stars Gala
Clarksville, TN – The 501(c)(3) nonprofit youth and business incubation program, Leap Organization hosted its annual Dining with the Stars Gala at the Riverview Inn in downtown Clarksville, Tennessee, on Saturday, March 4th, 2017.
Dining with the Stars is the annual tribute where high school seniors in the Clarksville Montgomery county community are awarded $1000 and $500.00 scholarships based on their essay submission.
Hand Family Companies sustained the gala with their $2500 donation that helped support LEAPs night of student stars shining bright.
Women’s History Month Celebration at Fort Defiance Interpretive Center
Clarksville, TN – Fort Defiance Interpretive Center, located at 120 Duncan Street, will host its first event with a specific focus on women’s history from 2:00pm to 4:00pm on Saturday, March 11th to celebrate Women’s History Month.
Stories will be shared about the women who lived on the site throughout its history.
Planters Bank Presents to show Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” at the Roxy Regional Theatre this Sunday, March 12th

Clarksville, TN – The “Planters Bank Presents…” film series next movie is “Beauty and the Beast”, widely considered the best animated Disney feature. This movie will be shown this Sunday, March 12th, 2017 at the Roxy Regional Theatre at 2:00pm.
Based on the classic French fairy tale, it tells the story of Belle (voiced by Paige O’Hara), an intelligent young woman scorned by her townspeople for being a bookworm, weary of fighting off the advances of the arrogant Gaston (Richard White), and dreaming of escape. When her father gets lost in the woods and captured by the forbidding Beast (Robby Benson), a once-handsome prince turned into a monster by a witch, Belle goes off to rescue him.

Hilltop Supermarket now accepting registrations for 2nd annual Dwayne Byard Memorial BBQ Cook Off
Clarksville, TN – On May 5th and 6th 2017, Hilltop Super Market will hold their 2nd annual Dwayne Byard Memorial BBQ Cook Off. There will be cash prizes for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishing teams per category as well as trophy prizes. There will also be a Grand Champion.
Team sign ups are going on now. The contest is limited to 20 teams. The categories are dessert, chicken, ribs, pork and beef brisket.

50 Flying Fish Land at Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s New Providence Pool
Clarksville, TN – On Monday evening, March 6th, fifty Clarksville area children will receive free swim lessons through the Howard’s Hope Flying Fish program. Each child accepted into the program receives eight Level I swim lessons, along with instruction in aquatic safety rules, taught by Red Cross certified instructors. The lessons will be held twice weekly at the New Providence Pool located on Cunningham Lane.
“My organization and Clarksville Parks and Recreation share a determination to reduce juvenile drownings in Tennessee. We hope to accomplish this mission by providing the lifesaving skill of swimming to as many needy children as possible,” says Steve Reeves, president of Howard’s Hope.
Montgomery County Sheriff Deputies visit county classrooms for Read Across America
Clarksville, TN – The Special Forces Brotherhood Motorcycle Club (SFBMC), a non-profit organization, comprised of active duty and retired Green Berets, hosts the Gold Star Memorial Concert to honor and raise funds for Special Forces Association, a charitable organization that support Gold Star Families.
This year’s concert features Confederate Railroad, Mary Shara (from the Voice), The Matt Poss Band and Odiss Kohn. The concert will be held at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center at Liberty Park. Doors will open at 3:30pm. Tickets in advance at $15.00 and $20.00 at the door.

Cumberland Arts Centre Dinner Theatre to hold auditions for “Barefoot in the Park” March 6th and 7th
Clarksville, TN – The Cumberland Arts Centre Dinner Theatre will hold auditions for Neil Simon’s “Barefoot In the Park” at 7:00pm on Monday March 6th and Tuesday March 7th. Cast includes young couple that can play mid 20’s; Female to play 40 – 60; Male 40 – 60; and two adult males of any age.
Those wishing to audition will be asked to read from the script. No resume or headshot is required. Auditions are open to the public. Production dates are scheduled for April 7th, 8th, 14th, 15th.
