Neil Simon’s “Barefoot in the Park” comes to Cumberland Arts Centre Dinner Theatre
Clarksville, TN – The Cumberland Arts Centre’s next dinner theatre production will be Neil Simon’s “Barefoot in the Park” scheduled for April 7th, 8th, 14th and 15th.
Directed by Art Conn, the production stars local favorite Alex Syler along with Lauren Street, Cris Isom, Alex Maynard, Scott Swan and Casey Williams.
“Barefoot in the Park” was first produced on Broadway with Robert Redford and Elizabeth Ashley.

Clarksville, TN – April is Adult Learn-to-Swim Awareness month and Clarksville Parks and Recreation is excited to offer four sessions of free swim lessons to any interested adult ages 18 years of age and older.

Clarksville, TN – The “Planters Bank Presents…” film series next movie is “Easter Parade” starring Fred Astaire and Judy Garland. This movie will be shown this Sunday, April 2nd, 2017 at the Roxy Regional Theatre at 2:00pm.
“Easter Parade” is about rising Broadway star Don Hewes (Fred Astaire) is devastated when his longtime dancing partner, Nadine Hale (Ann Miller), breaks up the team to set out on her own. Determined to prove that he can succeed without her, Astaire vows that he can pick any random chorus girl and make her a star. Fortunately for him, the chorus girl he picks happens to be one of the greatest entertainers of the 20th century, Judy Garland (playing Hannah Brown).
Austin Peay State University will hold GovNow dual enrollment information session April 4th
Clarksville, TN – On April 4th, Austin Peay State University will hold a GovNow dual enrollment information session for high school juniors and seniors from across Tennessee interested in getting a jump start on their college careers at 6:00pm in the Morgan University Center, room 307 on the University campus.
A major component of GovNow (a reference to APSU’s mascot, the Governor) is the incentive that students can earn four college-level classes for free.
Acuff Chair of Excellence recipient Dorothy Allison to give April 7th author reading at Austin Peay
Clarksville, TN – Award-winning writer, poet and novelist Dorothy Allison, the current Roy Acuff Chair of Excellence recipient, will be on the campus of Austin Peay State University on Friday, April 7th for an evening reading of her work.
The event, which takes place at 8:00pm, will be held at the George and Sharon Mabry Concert Hall on the University campus and is free to the public.
Allison has won a number of literary awards, including two Lambda Literary Awards and the American Library Association Prize for Lesbian and Gay Writing for her 1988 short story collection, “Trash.”

Marquis Hill Blacktet headlines 56th Mid-South Jazz Festival at Austin Peay State University
Clarksville, TN – The 56th Annual Mid-South Jazz Festival at APSU will be headlined by Virtuoso trumpeter Marquis Hill and the Marquis Hill Blacktet.

Clarksville, TN – Before Northeast High School senior Rebecca Armstrong matriculates to Austin Peay State University this fall, the Clarksville resident will have the unique opportunity to represent the state of Tennessee as a part of the annual American Spirit Awards.
Held June 8th-10th at the National World War II Museum in New Orleans, the American Spirit Awards celebrates individuals and organizations whose work reflects the values and spirit of those who served the country during the era of World War II.
