Comedy opens at Cumberland Arts Centre Dinner Theatre
Clarksville, TN – Make your reservations now for the upcoming production of “Red Velvet Cake War” at the Cumberland Arts Centre Dinner Theatre scheduled for February 17th, 18th, 24th and 25th.
This hilarious comedy by the writing team of Jones, Hope, Wooten is one of several shows by the playwrights that have been produced at the Cumberland Arts Center and have become a favorite of the Clarksville audiences.

Clarksville, TN – The Federal Open Market Committee left short-term interest rates unchanged, as expected, and tweaked the wording of the policy statement slightly. There were no solid clues as to the timing of the next increase in short-term interest rates, but officials noted the improvement in consumer and business sentiment and seemed a little more confident that inflation “will” increase to the 2% goal.
While January numbers are often suspect due to the magnitude of the seasonal adjustment, the economic data continued to paint a picture of the economy that is in good shape.

Clarksville, TN – The “Planters Bank Presents…” film series next movie will be the iconic wartime romantic epic “Casablanca”. This movie will be shown this Sunday, February 12th, 2017 at the Roxy Regional Theatre at 2:00pm.
Considered by many to be the greatest Hollywood movie ever made, this World War II classic takes place in war-torn Casablanca, Morocco, and tells the tale of a mysterious nightclub owner (Humphrey Bogart) and his old flame (Ingrid Bergman), her husband (Paul Henreid) and other skeletons from his past.
Former U.S. Attorney General, Judge Alberto Gonzalez to Speak at Clarksville’s Dining with the Stars
Clarksville, TN – Judge Alberto Gonzalez, former U.S. Attorney General, will be the keynote speaker at the 4th annual Dining with the Stars Gala on March 4th, 2017 at 6:00pm at the Riverview Inn.
Presently Judge Gonzales is a member of the NCAA Division I Committee on Infractions and he serves on the board of directors for the United Way of Metropolitan Nashville and the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee.
Previously he was also an appointee of Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam to the Governor’s Commission for Judicial Appointments and the Governor’s Management Fellows Executive Committee.

Kenwood High School’s “Waging War Against Cancer” event raises money for St. Jude Children’s hospital
Clarksville, TN – On Friday, January 27th, Kenwood High School (KHS) held the 3rd Annual KHS Charity Game, “Waging War Against Cancer”. The event raised over $1,200 in donations for St. Jude Children’s hospital that will be donated in Josh Artis’ memory.
The games last Friday between Kenwood and Northeast were exciting for sure, but the show at halftime of the boys’ game was also well worth watching. The student governments of both Kenwood and Northeast had been busy running games in the hall for kids and taking donations in the stands, while Kenwood’s National Honors Society gave away glow sticks for a donation.
Austin Peay State University Department of Theatre and Dance presents “Buried Child” on February 8th-12th
“Buried Child” to be performed by APSU Department of Theatre and Dance
Clarksville, TN – Sam Shepard’s Pulitzer Prize winning play, “Buried Child” opens Wednesday, February 8th at Austin Peay State University. In this performance, APSU’s Department of Theatre and Dance will explore what it looks like when the American Dream fails.
The curtain rises at 7:30pm for performances on February 8th-11th, with an additional showing February 12th at 2:00pm. All performances take place in the Trahern Theatre, with admission ranging from $10.00 for general public to $5.00 for students, seniors and military.

Clarksville, TN – The “Planters Bank Presents…” film series next movie will be Disney and Pixar’s “Toy Story”. This movie will be shown this Sunday, February 5th, 2017 at the Roxy Regional Theatre at 2:00pm.
“Woody,” a drawstring cowboy doll (voiced by Tom Hanks), is jealous of new-toy-in-town, spaceman action figure “Buzz Lightyear” (voiced by Tim Allen) in this computer-generated fantasy of an eclectic assortment of toys and their comical misadventures.
Woody and Buzz must band together to survive when they find themselves in the outside world.
City of Clarksville partners with Flourishing Families on Home
Collaboration provides needed transitional housing resource
Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville and Flourishing Families have added another link in Clarksville’s chain of social services that helps people in need.
Flourishing Families opened the doors Wednesday to a new transitional home to a family of five. The small but well-kept home at 451 Martin Street. was donated to the non-profit organization by the City of Clarksville.

Calling All Whos! Children’s Auditions for “Seussical The Musical” at the Roxy Regional Theatre on Saturday, February 11th
Clarksville, TN – Local youth will have the opportunity to work alongside professional actors when the Roxy Regional Theatre holds children’s auditions for The Whos in “Seussical The Musical” on Saturday, February 11th, at 1:00pm.
Children ages 10 and up should come prepared with “Oh, The Thinks You Can Think” and be dressed to move in comfortable clothing and shoes, as the audition will also include a dance portion. All auditionees will sing through “Oh, The Thinks You Can Think” with the recorded track prior to individual auditions. To avoid distractions, parents will be asked to wait in the lobby during the auditions.
