Clarksville Association of Realtors Adopts 100 “Angels” For Salvation Army
Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Association of Realtors® (CAR) Helping Hands Committee and many other REALTORS within the organization adopted 100 Angels for the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program.
“There is such a need in our area, and I’m thankful for the chance to help,” said Kathy Knobel, a Clarksville Realtor and 2016 member of CAR’s Helping Hands Committee.

Frazier Allen: Dealing with Dementia
Clarksville, TN – “I saw the bravest man in the world playing the hardest role of his life,” Robin Williams’ widow wrote in October of her husband’s dementia and the months leading up to his death in 2014. When his anxiety, personality changes and memory problems began three years ago, a “foundation of friendship and love was our armor,” Susan Schneider Williams said.
Her story likely strikes a chord among those caring for a loved one with dementia. The Alzheimer’s Association estimates that more than 15 million Americans currently are.

Frazier Allen: A Retirement Savings Exit Strategy
Clarksville, TN – Every day, an estimated 10,000 people reach the IRS trigger age when they must begin withdrawing money from their retirement plans. If you’re among them, it’s wise to develop a strategy.
Once you hit 70½, IRS rules call for required minimum distributions (RMDs) every year on all of your traditional, simplified employee pension (SEP) and SIMPLE IRAs, as well as employer-sponsored plans. Roth IRAs are exempt.
Create a plan to withdraw your minimum distributions on your terms, while complying with Uncle Sam’s.

Clarksville Ranks 19th Among Top U.S. Cities for Fastest Job Growth
Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville metropolitan statistical area (MSA) ranked 19th in the nation for fastest job growth. A report released today from 24/7 Wall Street, a Delaware-based financial news company, studied employment and job growth from October 2015 to October 2016 for 387 metro areas and announced the top 25 U.S. cities.
The Clarksville MSA added more than 4,700 jobs, an increase of 4.61%, with total jobs at 106,811 in October 2016.

CMCSS named to 7th Annual Advanced Placement District Honor Roll
Montgomery County, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System is one of 438 school districts across the U.S. and Canada to be honored by the College Board’s 7th Annual Advanced Placement (AP) District Honor Roll.
CMCSS is one of only 6 districts in the state of Tennessee to be named to the Advanced Placement District Honor Roll.
Austin Peay State University student newspaper wins awards at national convention in Atlanta
Clarksville, TN – The All State, the student-run newspaper at Austin Peay State University, earned two national awards from the College Media Association (CMA) during the organization’s Fall National Media Convention in Atlanta, Georgia, on Saturday, October 29th.
Glavine Day, sports editor, earned a coveted second place national Pinnacle Award for Best Sports Page/Spread for her designs featuring the huge win by the Govs at the 2016 Ohio Valley Conference Basketball Championship.

Catch the final performances of “The Happy Elf” at the Roxy Regional Theatre
Clarksville, TN – This week brings your final chances to catch Harry Connick, Jr.’s “The Happy Elf” at the Roxy Regional Theatre before Eubie the Elf returns to the North Pole following Saturday’s matinee.
Directed by Ryan Bowie and choreographed by Emily Rourke, “The Happy Elf” follows Eubie the Elf on his musical mission to bring Christmas cheer to Bluesville, a town on Santa’s naughty list. But can he turn a whole town of naughty children nice in just one day?
“The Happy Elf” final performances at the Roxy Regional Theatre are Wednesday through Saturday afternoon.
