Clarksville, TN – The FOMC minutes (from the July 26th-27th policy meeting) showed that officials were divided on the timing of the next rate hike. Some felt that the labor market had already tightened enough and that the Fed risked generating financial excesses by keeping rates so low for so long.
Others felt that there was plenty of time to wait for more information and that it would be harder to correct course if the Fed moved too rapidly. Among voting FOMC members, the hawkish view (those wanting to raise rates sooner rather than later) appeared to be a minority.

Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville’s Parks Recreation Department is once again seeking entries for its Art on the Park contest. This contest takes place every two years in an effort to beautify the Heritage Park Skate Park and to deter graffiti.

Austin Peay State University Students to launch high-altitude balloon during 2017 eclipse
Clarksville, TN – Almost like dominoes toppling over, only in reverse, a line of high-altitude balloons will gradually rise into the late summer sky, from Oregon to South Carolina, on August 21st, 2017.
That afternoon, the shadow of a total solar eclipse will traverse the entire country, and as it nears Clarksville, a team of Austin Peay State University students will release their own helium-filled inflatable.

Clarksville, TN – The LEAP Organization invites residents of Clarksville, TN to embark on the 7th Annual Summer Educational Excursion to Chicago from July 5th, 2017 to July 9th, 2017.
There will be an informational meeting Saturday, August 20th, 2016 at 1:00pm at the LEAP Plaza located at 1860 Wilma Rudolph Boulevard.
The purpose is to provide youth with an educational trip in Chicago to exposes them to a myriad of new and exciting experiences.

Clarksville Sportsfest offers Free Day of Sports and Athletics
Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting its sixth-annual Sportsfest from 10:00am until 2:00pm on Saturday, August 20th at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center located within Liberty Park at 1188 Cumberland Drive.
Sportsfest will offer a variety of sports, athletic and outdoor activities for the entire family.
Montgomery County Farmers’ Market Alive and Well at L&N Train Station

Clarksville, TN – The Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday Farmers’ Market at L&N Train Station at 189 Tenth Street in Clarksville features local farmers and fresh produce three times a week. Fresh tomatoes–both red and green– plus black-eyed peas, turnip greens, green beans, pepper–both sweet and hot–and all kinds of other vegetables and fruits abound.
In addition, you can find canned jellies, jams, relishes, sauerkraut, and vegetables and crocheted items. Open 7:00am to 1:00pm, the official name is the L&N Montgomery County Farmers’ Market.
