Clarksville Weekly Market Snapshot from Frazier Allen for the week of July 3rd, 2016

Clarksville, TN – U.S. financial markets spent most of the week pricing in a greater likelihood that the United Kingdom would vote to remain in the European Union.
Oops. The surprise “leave” victory in the U.K. referendum sent markets reeling. Global stock markets fell sharply. The pound plunged (to a 30-year low). Bond yields sank, reflecting a flight to safety.
Still, this wasn’t a Lehman-type event. Market participants were simply caught leaning the wrong way. Prime Minister Cameron resigned, effective October, leaving his predecessor a lengthy negotiation with the EU on exit terms.

Dunbar Cave State Park to hold Cave Hikes in July, 2016
Clarksville, TN – In July, Dunbar Cave State Park will hold cave hikes Wednesday through Sunday at 10:00am.
Due to the presence of White Nose Syndrome (WNS) in our cave, clean caving protocols are in effect.
Each person must bring two pairs of shoes- boots or shoes with good traction, and any type of footwear to change into so that the WNS fungus is not carried out on your shoes.
Clarksville’s Customs House Museum July 2016 Exhibits and Activities
Clarksville, TN – The Customs House Museum and Cultural Center is located in historic downtown Clarksville, Tennessee. Come explore an entire city block featuring large gallery spaces filled with fine art, science and history.

Marcelius Braxton hired as new director of APSU’s Wilbur N. Daniel African American Cultural Center
Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University has hired Marcelius Braxton as the new director for the APSU Wilbur N. Daniel African American Cultural Center effective July 1st.
Braxton previously worked at Missouri University of Science and Technology, where he served as a student service coordinator for the University’s Student Diversity, Outreach and Women’s Programs (SDOWP).
