This weeks highlights include: Christmas on the Cumberland Grand Opening Scheduled, Winter Gym, Christmas Parade Entries being sought and Indoor Aquatic Center to host event just for toddlers.
Austin Peay State University fraternity registers more than 500 students to vote
Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s Tau Phi Chapter of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity participated in the organization’s national program, “A Voteless People Is A Hopeless People,” in September.
During the event, the chapter registered 505 APSU students to vote in local, state and national elections.
APSU honors founding members of faculty senate
Clarksville, TN – When the first Austin Peay State University Faculty Senate met in October of 1975, then-senate president Solie Fott made two motions to the University administration.

Alzheimer’s Association to host Caregiver Conference at Workforce Essentials on Monday, December 14th
Clarksville, TN – On Monday, December 14th, 2015 the Alzheimer’s Association will be putting on a Caregiver Conference at Workforce Essentials. Visit exhibitors, learn from professionals and enjoy time with other family caregivers.
The conference is free to attend. Light breakfast and lunch is included. Respite care available at no cost. You must register to attend and space is limited.
APSU celebrates ancient languages with 9th annual Classics Day
Clarksville, TN – Latin is very much a living language on the campus of Austin Peay State University, as Classics at APSU hosted its annual Classics Day event for area high school students.
The all-day event brought together a record 221 students from Montgomery County and Sumner County high schools for a day of activities centered on the languages of the ancient world.
Austin Peay State University’s David Steinquest and Friends to hold “Santa Claus is Coming!” Christmas concert December 4th
Clarksville, TN – Don’t miss the 2015 edition of the Christmas concert, “Santa Claus is Coming!,” presented by Austin Peay State University professor of music David Steinquest.
The sixth annual concert is set for Friday, December 4th at 7:30pm in the George and Sharon Mabry Concert Hall on the University campus.
Clarksville’s Convenient Car Care Inc. raises money for Pearl Point Cancer Support
Clarksville, TN – During October’s Breast Cancer Awareness month, Convenient Car Care Inc. of Clarksville held a campaign to raise money for cancer awareness. During the month, they accepted donations from their customers at their Valvoline Instant Oil Change and Valvoline Complete Car Care facilities in Clarksville, Nashville, and Kentucky.
“During the month of October, we donated $2.00 of every oil change that came through our stores as well as excepted donations from our customers that went directly to Pearl Point Cancer Support,” said Candace Ursery, President of Convenient Car Care Inc.
APSU student excels at international conference
Clarksville, TN – On November 13th, Austin Peay State University senior Keedy Burdeshaw presented her research on consent education in Tennessee at the International Organization for Social Sciences and Behavioral Research in Boca Raton, Florida.
Austin Peay State University honors Tennessee artist Craddock with inaugural fellowship
Clarksville, TN – At 7:00pm on Monday, November 23rd, artist Maysey Craddock will present a public lecture on her work at Austin Peay State University. Craddock is the recipient of the inaugural APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts Tennessee Artist Fellowship.
