Clarksville’s Hazelwood Elementary School Selected as State Nominee for National Title 1 School
Clarksville, TN – Hazelwood Elementary School has been nominated by the state for the National Title I Distinguished School Award for sustained student achievement.
The National Title I Distinguished Schools Program is a project of the National Title I Association, established to publicly recognize qualifying Title I schools for the outstanding academic achievements of their students.
Maggie Smith joins Batson Nolan

APSU hosting scholarship 5K on October 10th
Clarksville, TN – This October, alumni and community members can support Austin Peay State University student-athletes while also enjoying an intense three-mile run through campus by participating in the APSU Scholarship 5K Run.

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department has partnered with Altra Federal Credit Union and the downtown businesses to present One Frightful Night, also known as Fright on Franklin, on Saturday, October 31st.
Local businesses and organizations are invited to participate in this year’s event scheduled to take place from 3:00pm to 6:00pm in downtown Clarksville.

Clarksville, TN – The Federal Open Market Committee delayed the start of policy normalization, citing concerns about global economic and financial developments.
The FOMC is not reacting to overseas developments per se, but rather to the implications for the U.S. economy (some restraint on growth, further downward pressure on inflation). In the revised dot plot, there was little agreement about where the federal funds rate would be at the end of 2016 and 2017.

APSU’s computer science program leads TBR institutions in graduating women, minorities
Clarksville, TN – For nearly a century, Austin Peay State University has been committed to providing higher education to students of all backgrounds, and the results of recent data from the Tennessee Board of Reagents System (TBR) serves as further proof of APSU’s success.
APSU’s Department of Computer Science and Information Technology was recently noted for graduating the highest number of computer science majors in the TBR system, with a total of 81 graduates in 2014-15. The total represents a 20-percent improvement over the previous academic year. [Read more]
Kleeman Community Center to Host Free Family Salsa Night
Clarksville, TN – The Kleeman Community Center is ready to dance the night away at the Family Salsa Night on Friday, September 25th from 6:00pm to 10:00pm.
The event will feature Latino music and dance, basic Salsa introductory instruction and a variety of food will be served.
Clarksville Parks and Recreation announces Paralympic Experience set for September 26th
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department has teamed up with the Tennessee Association of Blind Athletes and the National Federation of the Blind Paralympic Sport Clarksville to host the Paralympic Experience on Saturday, September 26th at the Heritage Park Softball Complex from 10:00am until 2:00pm.
This event is open to youth and adults at least 8-years-old, including active duty service members and veterans, with physical and visual disabilities, regardless of skill level. [Read more]
