New APSU student health building named after Wayne and Marianne Ard
Clarksville, TN – Earlier this year, Wayne Ard, president of Ard Construction, met Austin Peay State University President Alisa White for breakfast at a local restaurant. The conversation that morning quickly turned to Ard’s wife, Marianne, who passed away a few months earlier in December 2014.
“My wife was an education freak,” Ard told President White. “She felt that every high school student should have a college education. She said that education was something you can’t get too much of. So today, in Marianne’s honor, I’ll make a pledge to you.”

7th annual Dancing til Dawn features a Roaring Good Time with Great Gatsby Themed Gala
Clarksville, TN – Break out your dancing shoes and get ready for the 7th annual Dancing til Dawn gala on Saturday, August 8th, 2015. The annual event benefitting The Dawn Stanfill Foundation will begin at 8:00pm at F&M Bank’s Franklin Room in downtown Clarksville and will feature a Great Gatsby theme this year.
Dancing til Dawn is a night of dinner, dancing, and a silent auction with proceeds benefiting The Dawn Stanfill Foundation which aids Middle Tennessee children who are undergoing cancer treatments.
Clarskville Parks and Recreation’s Tai Chi for Arthritis will be starting again soon
Clarksville, TN – Another session of Tai Chi will begin on August 11th at the Crow Community Center, located at 211 Richview Road. There are a total of 8 one-hour long sessions included in the program. Tai Chi will take place on Tuesdays from 4:00pm to 5:00pm, August 11th through September 29th.

Clarksville’s Dunbar Cave State Park Programs for August 11th through August 16th, 2015
Clarksville, TN – Dunbar Cave State Natural Area has been a State Park since 1973. The cave and its surrounding 110 acres have considerable scenic, natural and historical significance. The entrance offered shelter to prehistoric Native Americans as far back as 10,000 years.
Dunbar Cave State Natural Area will present many nature programs during the year. There are programs for children and adults.
Some of the upcoming events include: Port Royal Plant Hike, Cave Hike, Port Royal History Hike, Mysterious Underground World, Sinkhole in a Bottle and Mushroom March.
APSU’s Professional Science Masters program produces first graduates
Clarksville, TN – On a quiet, sunny morning in late July, Cara Upton stood in the nearly empty Maynard Mathematics and Computer Science Building, on the Austin Peay State University campus, and found herself unable to keep from smiling.
“It’s really exciting to be one of the first students in Tennessee that has been educated in this field,” she said.

Cara Upton is one of the first students to graduate from Austin Peay’s Professional Science Masters program.
LEAP Announces 5K Run/Walk for Wellness and Scholarships
Clarksville, TN – The LEAP Organization will be conducting its 5K Run/Walk for Wellness and Scholarship fundraiser on Saturday, September 19th, 2015. This event will raise money for the 6th Annual 7 Points Scholarship Essay contest that is available to high school seniors enrolled in the Clarksville Montgomery County School System (CMCSS) or Fort Campbell High Schools.
The race will start and finish near the Beachaven Winery located at 1100 Dunlap Lane. Registration starts at 8:30am and the race to begin at 9:30am rain or shine. The tax-deductive registration fee is $25.00 for adults, $10.00 for teens, and $5.00 for the kids 1 mile inflatable run.
Last Concert of Summer Liberty Live Series August 7th
Clarksville, TN – The Liberty Live summer concert series returns for the final concert of the series at Liberty Park on Friday, August 7th! The last concert in the series will feature the alternative rock group, Darling Parade.
Admission is free but concessions will be available for purchase. The show is set to begin at 6:30pm at Liberty Park.
Job Fair set for Thursday, August 6th
Montgomery County – Judge Ray Grimes and County Commissioner Garland Johnson will host their monthly job fair on Thursday, August 6th, from 9:00am to 3:00pm on the 2nd floor of the Courts Center.
The Courts Center is located at 2 Millennium Plaza. The public is invited to attend.
