Staff to better assist Veteran Students in Transition
Clarksville, TN – Transitioning from military life to student life can be difficult for veterans, particularly if they have recently returned home from a deployment or completed their active duty service.
Unlike the structured environment of the military, universities have a variety of colleges, departments and administrative areas that can feel like a complicated maze to navigate.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation seeks vendors for 5th annual Clarksville SportsFest
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation will be hosting its fifth-annual Clarksville SportsFest on Saturday, August 15th from 10:00am until 2:00pm at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center located within Liberty Park at 1188 Cumberland Drive. SportsFest will offer a variety of sports, athletic and outdoor activities for the entire family.
Attendants can rotate through over 20 sports demonstrations of their choosing to get hands on experience in learning a new sport like Parkour, Rugby, Crossfit, Archery, Scuba, Pickleball, Lacrosse, MMA and many more!
Clarksville’s Dunbar Cave State Park adds additional Programs for July 8th and July 9th, 2015
Clarksville, TN – Dunbar Cave State Natural Area has been a State Park since 1973. The cave and its surrounding 110 acres have considerable scenic, natural and historical significance. The entrance offered shelter to prehistoric Native Americans as far back as 10,000 years.
Dunbar Cave State Natural Area will present many nature programs during the year. There are programs for children and adults.
Some of the upcoming events include: Morning Hike, Sinkhole in a Bottle, Herpetological Morning Hike and Forest Food Web.

Cunningham, TN – Montgomery Central High School math teacher Micahel Brown has been selected to receive the esteemed Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST).
Austin Peay State University’s Hannah Johstono wins Miss College Majorette of Tennessee, heads to Nationals
Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University featured twirler Hannah Johstono has demonstrated her talent and skill with a baton in front of crowds both large and small during her 14 years of twirling.
A regular with the Governor’s Own Marching Band for the past four seasons, Johstono has captivated everyone from APSU fans gathered in Governor Stadium’s Tailgate Alley to 100,000 fans at Neyland Stadium as the Governors took on the University of Tennessee Volunteers.

APSU ranked 21 in nation for students with children
Clarksville, TN – The website BestColleges.com recently released its list of the Best Colleges for Students with Children, and Austin Peay State University debuted at the No. 21 spot on the annual ranking.
More than four million students currently attending U.S. colleges and universities are parents, and the Best Colleges list singles out the schools that offer the greatest amount of support for these individuals.

APSU Omicron Delta Kappa honor society named “Superior Circle”
Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society was recently the recipient of the ODK Superior Circle Award, distinguishing it as one of the best chapters in the nation.
The award marks the fourth time in five years that the APSU circle has been recognized as “superior” for the continued leadership within the society. [Read more]
Planters Bank Gallery Showcases Privett’s World Landmarks in July
Clarksville, TN – The Planters Bank-Hilldale Gallery will feature “Famous Landmarks of the World” by Clarksville Artist Bob Privett from Thursday, July 2nd – Wednesday, August 5th.
Privett’s acrylic paintings depict some of the famous landmarks around the globe. “These pieces were inspired by the old antique travel postcards of times past,” he explains.
His landmark works include structures such as cathedrals, museums, skyscrapers, hotels, homes, libraries, bridges and ruins.
