107th annual Lone Oak Picnic to be held Saturday, July 25th

The Civitan ClubCunningham, TN – The Central Civitan Club will hold the 107th annual Lone Oak Picnic this Saturday, July 25th from 10:00am until 2:00pm. Everyone is invited to attend.

Come out and enjoy entertainment, meet public officials, and purchase excellent chicken and pork barbecue. The picnic grounds are located between Hwy 13 and Alonzo Place in Cunningham, TN.

Parking is off of Alonzo Place. Admission is free.

There will be musical entertainment and for the kids there will be train rides and inflatables.

Everyone had a good time, talking with friends, neighbors and family while eating good food and listening to great music at last year's event.

Wes Sumner Joins Planters Bank Commercial Team

Section of Clarksville Greenway to Close for Electrical Maintenance Beginning Monday

Clarksville GreenwayClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Department of Electricity will be conducting electrical line maintenance on a section of the Clarksville Greenway beginning Monday, July 27th, 2015 through Wednesday, July 29th, 2015.

The partial closure will include the trail to the right of the Pollard Road trail head. The trail to the left of the Pollard Road trail head will remain open to the public.

Registration deadline extended for Clarksville’s Wonder Kids Triathlon

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – If you have haven’t registered your child for the 3rd Annual Wonder Kids Triathlon, there is still time! Clarksville Parks & Recreation has extended the registration deadline to July 27th, 2015. This event is open to boys and girls ages 3-12 years-old and will take place at New Providence Pool and surrounding area of 166 Cunningham Lane on Saturday, August 1st, 2015.

Just like in a traditional triathlon, the Wonder Kids Triathlon athletes will participate in three legs of the event: swimming, biking and running.

Charles Esten will take the main stage as the headlining event on Saturday, September 12th, 2015 at 9:00pm. The concert is free and open to the public.

Born in Pittsburgh, PA, Charles “Chip” Esten was raised in Alexandria, VA and attended T.C. Williams High School, made famous in the film “Remember the Titans.”

Clarksville-Montgomery County School System honored as a ‘District of Distinction’

Clarksville-Montgomery County School System - CMCSSMontgomery County, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System has been named a District of Distinction by the editors of District Administration magazine for its Leadership Development.

In its July edition, District Administration magazine honored 30 school districts as Districts of Distinction. This is the third round of honorees in this national recognition program, which was launched last year.

CMCSS makes new Administrative Appointments

Clarksville-Montgomery County School System - CMCSSMontgomery County, TN – The Clarksville Montgomery County School System today announced two new administrative appointments.

Jaime Dye Holder, the theatre arts teacher at Northwest High School, has been selected as the assistant principal at Kenwood Middle School.

Linda Medina-Griffy, assistant principal at Montgomery Central Elementary School, will become the assistant principal at Minglewood Elementary School.

APSU named Great College to Work For

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – For the fourth consecutive year, Austin Peay State University is one of the best colleges in the nation to work for, according to a recent survey by The Chronicle of Higher Education. In addition, APSU is the only university in Tennessee to make the national publication’s “Great Colleges to Work For 2015” list.

The results were released earlier this week in The Chronicle’s eighth annual report on The Academic Workplace.
