Acuff Circle to honor Mabrys at Jazz in June event

Acuff Circle of ExcellenceClarksville, TN – The Acuff Circle of Excellence will honor George and Sharon Mabry at the organization’s summertime Jazz in June on June 12th. The event, from 5:30pm to 7:00pm, will be at Beachaven Vineyards and Winery, and the public is invited.

The Circle, a non-profit organization affiliated with the Austin Peay State University Foundation, serves as a patron society of the University’s Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts, and advances the importance of arts and culture at the University and in the community. The endowed Acuff Circle of Excellence Arts Scholarship is awarded each year to an APSU student majoring in the fine arts.

Jurassic Park takes over Heritage Park May 16th

Movies in the ParkClarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville and Convergys are excited to announce Jurassic Park is coming to the big screen Saturday, May 16th as part of the 2015 Movies in the Park. Jurassic Park (PG-13), originally premiering in 1993, tells the story of a group of scientists who manage to bring dinosaurs back to life.

They must then deal with the unexpected consequences of their actions. The new Jurassic World is set to release this summer, making Saturday the perfect time to relive the original Jurassic Park story.

APSU business student earns fellowship to national leadership academy

Austin Peay State University’s 21st Annual Governors Bass Tournament set for this Saturday, May 16th

APSU Governors Bass TournamentClarksville, TN – The 21st annual Austin Peay State University Governors Bass Tournament will be held 6:00am, Saturday, at Kentucky Lake, with registration and boat launching from Paris Landing, Tennessee, State Park.

Twelve thousand dollars in prize money will be awarded with a guaranteed first-place prize of $5,000. Second-place is guaranteed $1,500. Third and fourth-place will receive $1,000 and $600.00, respectively. The top 25 places will receive prizes.

Beachaven Winery’s Jazz on the Lawn kicked off Saturday in a big way

Beachaven WineryClarksville, TN – Hundreds of people descended on Beachaven Vineyard and Winery Saturday, May 9th, for the first concert of the Jazz on the Lawn season. Chairs and blankets filled the lawn as everyone got ready to spend quality time with friends and family.

“There’s a huge crowd already and the music hasn’t even started,” said Louisa Cooke. “It’s a wonderful night and were glad it’s already jazz season again.”

Hilltop Supermarket’s “Karing for Kenai” Spring Festival a huge success

Hilltop SupermarketClarksville, TN – On Saturday, May 9th, Hilltop Supermarket held a Spring Festival event, “Karing for Kenai”. The event was a fundraiser for Kenai Payes Langley who was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer.

Kenai is a beautiful 13 year-old-young lady who lives in Clarksville, TN, with her mother and older sister, Hailey. Kenai is battling Stage 3 Clear Cell Adenocarcinoma Cancer. She has 8 tumors in the surrounding areas of her reproductive system.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – When the 2015 Clarksville Downtown Market opens on Saturday, May 16th, approximately 70 vendors will be on hand to offer local fresh produce, baked goods, local honey, milk, home décor, seasonal flowers and more.

The Clarksville Downtown Market will be open from 8:00am to 1:00pm every Saturday through October 17th on Public Square.
