Buchanan, TN – The 21st annual Austin Peay State University Governors Bass Tournament was held in the rain Saturday, May 16th on Kentucky Lake. Boats launched from Paris Landing State Park at 6:00am. There were 212 boats registered for the event and 200 competed for the $12,000 in prize money.
The weather was clear some but mainly held to a steady rain for most of the day with periods of light drizzle. Despite the conditions, the fishermen were in high spirits at the start of the event.
14th Tennessee Infantry returns to Clarksville for 150th Anniversary Homecoming at Fort Defiance Civil War Park
Clarksville, TN – On Friday, May 15th, 2015, the 14th Tennessee Infantry celebrated their 150th anniversary Homecoming at Fort Defiance Civil War Park. Reenactors of the Confederate 14th Tennessee Volunteer Infantry, Company B setup camp and held demonstrations from 10:00am until 5:00pm.
Some of the demonstrations held included an infantry demonstration, weapons talk, U.S. Sanitary Commission information, a talk on Confederate flags as well as an artillery demonstration and discussion.

Clarksville, TN – The mid-month economic data disappointed. Retail sales were weaker than anticipated in April. Industrial production fell short of expectations. Consumer sentiment slid in the mid-May assessment.
However, weekly claims for unemployment benefits remained remarkably low. The reports on import prices and producer prices continued to show disinflationary pressures.
Real GDP for the euro area rose 0.4% q/q (a 1.7% annual rate) in the flash estimate for the first quarter. Bond yields in Europe moved higher, but seemed to meet some resistance.

New Musical Playgroup Offered for Toddlers at Governor’s Square Mall
Clarksville, TN – There’s a new musical playgroup program for toddlers at Governor’s Square Mall that is being offered by Jam with Jamie and Friends and HIP Events on Tuesdays at 11:00am and 1:00pm in the Community Room. The Community Room is located at the Main Entrance next to GNC.
Jam with Jamie and Friends is a group of children’s musicians who provide musical entertainment for playgroups and birthday parties. They provide interactive jam sessions with all the classic kid favorites and oldies, rock, and top 40 tunes.

This is just off Dunlop Lane and Holiday Drive and only a few minutes east of Governor’s Square mall.

Montgomery County, TN – The Montgomery County Veterans Service Organization is hosting its annual Memorial Day Ceremony at 10:00am, May 25th, at Veterans Memorial Park, Clarksville.
City and county officials, as well as MCVSO staff will give remarks, with the keynote address given by retired Army Lieutenant Colonel Wendell Cheek, who currently serves as Deputy Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Veterans Affairs.
