Summer Youth Program to begin June 1st
Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department Summer Youth Program will begin June 1st with the opening of program sites and will end July 10th. This year’s theme is “Blast from the Past!”
The Summer Youth Program is a six-week day camp-type program that is offered each summer to youths, ages 6-16. Gyms at various locations are staffed with directors and assistants, who will help with playtime activities and provide free, instructional classes such as dance and karate.
APSU graduate Conor Scruton to study poetry at summer house of Robert Frost
Clarksville, TN – A small, white house located on a farm in New Hampshire, the property now known as The Frost Place served as American poet Robert Frost’s summer home from 1915 through 1938.
It was on that humble plot of land where Frost formed many of the poems that would eventually earn him, among other honors, a Congressional Gold Medal and four Pulitzer Prizes. In 1977, 14 years after his death, the farmhouse was transformed into The Frost Place and became a retreat for emerging American poets.
Clarksville Mayor’s Fitness Council receives grant
Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Mayor’s Fitness Council was recently awarded a $9,500 grant by The Clarksville-Montgomery County Community Health Foundation to further its Clarkswell movement.
The Mayor’s Fitness Council has established the unique Clarkswell brand to identify Clarksville as a healthier place to work and play. Through this community-wide effort, the MFC created the Clarkswell Workplace initiative designed for employers who seek to improve employee health.
Rivers and Spires Quilts of the Cumberland winners announced
Clarksville, TN – The Quilts of the Cumberland Quilt show was during the Rivers and Spires Festival, April 16th-18th at the Madison Street United Methodist Church. There were a variety of quilts from local artists on display from traditional to one of a kind. The event was free and open to the public.
These quilts were simply amazing. The event had Juried exhibitions and non-juried exhibitions as well.
Clarksville Association of Realtors to hold 8th Annual F.U.E.L. Block Party and Fundraiser, May 2nd
Clarksville, TN – On May 2nd, 2015, the Clarksville Association of Realtors will be hosting the 8th Annual F.U.E.L. Block Party and Fundraiser.
It is a community event that is coordinated each year by the Charity Relations Committee with the assistance of the realtor and affiliate members of the Clarksville Association of Realtors.

Based on the books by P.L. Travers and the classic Walt Disney film, this “practically perfect” musical delighted Broadway audiences for over 2,500 performances and received nominations for nine Olivier and seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical. Filled with timeless classics such as “Jolly Holiday,” “Step in Time” and the Academy Award-winning “Chim-Chim Cher-ee,” this show can only be described as “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!”

Rivers and Spires Festival was great fun for everyone
Clarksville, TN – The 13th annual Rivers and Spires Festival concluded Saturday, April 18th with beautiful weather, great music, wonderful food and entertainment for everyone.
Speaking of food, there were freshly dipped corn dogs, kettle corn, funnel cakes, hotdogs, brats, gyros along with plenty of iced tea and lemonade. The gyros was particularly good. Everything was reasonably priced.
Grammy winner Rhonda Larson to visit APSU as final Acuff Chair of Excellence of 2014-15
Clarksville, TN – The final Roy Acuff Chair of Excellence recipient of 2014-15, Grammy Award winning flutist Rhonda Larson, will bring her talents to campus for a series of lectures and master classes at Austin Peay State University the week of April 21st-28th.
During her residency, Larson will share her experiences as a performing artist, as well as offering insight and lessons to APSU and area students. Her visit to campus will conclude on Tuesday, April 28th, with a concert with the APSU Wind Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Gregory Wolynec. The event will take place at 7:30pm at the Mabry Concert Hall, on the campus of APSU.
Free Dance Workshop This Tuesday Evening at the Roxy Regional Theatre
Clarksville, TN – Come out to the Roxy Regional Theatre this Tuesday, April 21st, at 7:00pm, for a free dance workshop led by Philadelphia-based choreographer Jenn Rose, currently in town choreographing the Roxy’s production of Mary Poppins.
Jenn Rose is the founder of Loose Screws Contemporary Tap Company, a Broadway World Philadelphia Audience Choice Award winner and a three time Barrymore Award Nominee.
