Downtown Artists Co-opClarksville, TN – On Thursday, October 2nd, 2014 Nada Fuqua will present her latest works entitled “Landscapes, Mostly, a Continuation” at the Downtown Artists’ Co-op in historic downtown Clarksville (96 Franklin Street) from 5:30pm to 8:00pm.

The exhibit will be open through the month of October.

Light refreshments will be served. Free to public.

Drug Task Force to collect, dispose of unused medications

Montgomery County Sheriff's Office - MCSOMontgomery County, TN – The 19th Judicial District Drug Task Force is again partnering with DEA to collect unused medications and dispose of them properly.

From 10:00am to 2:00pm Saturday, agents will be stationed at Walgreens, 1954 Madison Street in Clarksville to collect the medications.

Austin Peay State University waiving fees for active duty soldiers at APSU Fort Campbell Center

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – A recent change to the U.S. Department of Defenses’ Tuition Assistance program is causing active-duty military personnel to pay out-of-pocket cash for fees associated with pursuing a college education, but Austin Peay State University is working to eliminate this financial burden affecting its military students.

Beginning with the Fall II semester, APSU will waive online fees and technology access fees for active-duty personnel taking classes at the Austin Peay Center at Fort Campbell.

Clarksville Community Concert Association hosted an evening with the Parker Quartet and Charles Neidich

The Clarksville Community Concert AssociationClarksville, TN – In the opening act of their 2014-2015 season, the Clarksville Community Concert Association presented the world famous Parker Quartet along with Guest Clarinetist Charles Neidich in a concert held in the George and Sharon Mabry Concert Hall at the Music and Mass Communication Building on Austin Peay State University.

The Parker Quartet features Daniel Chong and Ying Xue on Violin. Jessica Bodner on the Viola, Kee-Hyun Kim on the Cello; and they were joined in the second half by Charles Neidich on the Bassett clarinet.

Movies in the Park season concludes with ‘Hunger Games 2: Catching Fire’

Clarksville Parks and Recreation's Movies in the ParkClarksville, TN – Movies in the Park, the City’s free, outdoor movie series, concludes Saturday, September 27th, at Liberty Park, 1190 Cumberland Drive, Clarksville. ‘Hunger Games 2: Catching Fire,’ rated PG-13, and brought to you by Premier Medical will be shown at approximately 7:00pm (dependent on sunset).

F&M Investment Services - Raymond James - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – Fed policymakers reduced the monthly pace of asset purchases (QE3) by another $10 billion, to $15 billion, on track to finish buying at the end of October. The Fed repeated that “it likely will be appropriate to maintain the current target range for the federal funds rate for a considerable time after the asset purchase program ends.”

Fed officials’ projections of the appropriate year-end federal funds target rate indicated that most expect to begin raising short-term interest rates sometime in 2015, but there was a wide range in the individual forecasts (and implicitly, in their expectations of when rates will start to rise – with most spread roughly evenly between March and September).

Montgomery County to get multimodal general purpose Port

Montgomery County TennesseeMontgomery County, TN – The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) recently selected a proposal from the Montgomery County Port Authority, an Authority created by Montgomery County Government, for funding under the federal Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement (CMAQ) program.

The Cumberland River Regional Waterway Facility will expand a single-purpose terminal into a multimodal general purpose port with connections to rail and highway systems on the Cumberland River in Montgomery County. [Read more]
