Clarksville’s Rivers and Spires to hold Arm Wrestling Tournament this weekend
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville’s Rivers and Spires has added an arm wrestling tournament to this year’s festival. The tournament will be held in the Military Appreciation Area.
There are cash prizes and awards up for grabs and anyone can sign up. Registration will be Friday April 25th, 2014 from 5:00pm-10:00pm and Saturday April 26th, 2014 from 10:00am until noon at the Military Appreciation Zone.
APSU recognized Outstanding Faculty at Annual Academic Honors and Awards Ceremony
Clarksville, TN – On April 15th, Austin Peay State University recognized several outstanding faculty members during the annual Academic Honors and Awards Ceremony in the Mabry Concert Hall.
During an emotional presentation, the University’s top faculty honor, the APSU National Alumni Association Distinguished Professor Award, was presented posthumously to John Moseley, associate professor of communication. Moseley passed away on February 9th, after an 18-year career as an active faculty member at APSU. [Read more]

Clarksville, TN – The 2014 Rivers and Spires Festival kicks off tonight, April 24th in Downtown Clarksville Tennessee. Everything gets started at 5:00pm and runs through 10:00pm.

Clarksville’s Rivers and Spires Festival weather forecast shows Mild Temperatures, slight chance of Rain
Slight chance of Rain Thursday, Partly Sunny Friday and Saturday
Clarksville, TN – This weekend’s weather for the 2014 Rivers and Spires Festival will be partly sunny Friday and Saturday. However, Thursday, there is a 20 percent chance of rain in the afternoon after 1:00pm. Later Thursday night, the chance of rain increases to 50 percent with a chance of thunderstorms.
According to the National Weather Service, the temperature will be in the high 70’s during the day and drop to the low 50’s at night.
Clarksville’s Rivers and Spires headlined Saturday night by Country artist Randy Houser
Clarksville, TN – This Saturday, April 26th, CMA award-nominated country musician, Randy Houser hits the Rivers and Spires’ Public Square Stage at 7:00pm. The concert is free and open to the public.
He will perform some of his biggest hits that have made him one of Country music’s most popular new comers. Songs such as “Goodnight Kiss”, “How Country Feels”, “Boots On” and “Runnin’ Outta Moonlight ” will make up a concert you don’t want to miss.

Clarksville, TN – Stock market participants seemed only mildly concerned about escalating tensions in Ukraine, but were encouraged by comments from Fed Chair Janet Yellen. Yellen suggest that the Fed would respond to significant, surprising changes in the outlook for growth, inflation expectations, or financial conditions.
Short-term interest rates aren’t going to be raised for a while, but the first increase in rates could be pushed out if the Fed remains short of its goals (full employment, 2% inflation).
Road Closures Announced For Rivers and Spires
Clarksville, TN – Road closures for this week have been announced for the 12th Annual Rivers and Spires Festival in downtown Clarksville.
Some street closures will begin Wednesday, April 23rd. All street will be open again Sunday, April 27th by 7:00am.
The following streets will be closed.
APSU Office of Disability Services recognized as leader in Tennessee
Clarksville, TN – In late March, the Tennessee Association of Higher Education and Disability (TN-AHEAD) recognized Austin Peay State University’s Office of Disability Services as one of the top collegiate service organizations in the state.
During the TN-AHEAD Spring Conference and Business Meeting at East Tennessee State University, Janet Norman, associate director of the APSU Office of Disability Services, was presented with the Dona Sparger Professional Service Award for advocacy, education and service to individuals with disabilities.

Oakwood Freewill Baptist Church to host 2nd Annual Church Yard Sale Saturday, April 26th
Woodlawn, TN – Oakwood Freewill Baptist Church at 2551 Church Lane in Woodlawn will be hosting its 2nd Annual Yard Sale on Saturday April 26th from 8:00am-2:00pm.

Hilltop Super Market draws record attendance at 19th Annual Easter Egg Hunt
Clarksville, TN – On Saturday, April 19th, 2014, the 19th Annual Easter Egg Hunt was held at Hilltop Super Market.
Some of the activities at the event were inflatables, cupcake decorating, duck pond, face painting and more. Everything kicked off at 11:00am.
