Clarksville, TN – Next week, the ISM Manufacturing Index should set the tone for the week, but the markets will put a lot of weight on the November jobs data.
Recall that the government shutdown did not have a noticeable impact on the October nonfarm payroll figures (which were stronger than anticipated), but did alter the household survey data (the unemployment rate and the employment/population ratio).

Gateway Chamber Orchestra To Host Second “Winter Baroque” Concert On December 8th
Clarksville, TN – In 1939, Italian composer Alfredo Casella performed a little-known choral work by Antonio Vivaldi. The piece was about 200 years old, but after two centuries of neglect, Vivaldi’s “Gloria” struck a cord with Casella’s audience. The Baroque masterwork, originally composed as part of the Catholic Mass, is now a holiday staple, performed in churches across the globe each December.
At 3 p.m. on Dec. 8, the Gateway Chamber Orchestra and Choir will feature the famed work at the Madison Street United Methodist Church during the GCO’s second annual Winter Baroque Concert.

December’s First Thursday Art Walk to be Held on December 5th in Downtown Clarksville

Budweiser Clydesdales in Clarksville for Christmas Parade
Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Christmas Parade will be bigger and better this year, because joining the local festivities will be the famous Budweiser Clydesdales.
Charles Hand and Budweiser of Clarksville arranged for the visit to Clarksville, and there will be several opportunities for the public to view the magnificent horses.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation reports Indoor Aquatic Center back Open
Clarksville, TN – Due to mechanical issues, the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department temporarily closed the Indoor Aquatic Center, located at 166 Cunningham Lane, last week.
The pool is now open and welcoming visitors.

Clarksville’s Customs House Museum Gears Up for Biennial National Exhibition
Clarksville, TN – The human form is the theme of the upcoming national juried exhibition at the Customs House Museum. Entries for the show, Figuratively Speaking, are currently being accepted. The 2014 show is open to artists 18 years and older, residing in the United States.
The juror for the exhibition is Ruth Crnkovich, fine art appraiser and collection management specialist for private collectors, corporations, and museums. Ruth has served on multiple museum boards, including as a founding member of the Nathan Manilow Sculpture Park in Illinois.

Austin Peay State University Students Form New National Home Builders Association (NAHB) Chapter On Campus
Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University students seeking degrees in construction and civil engineering technology now have an extra-circular organization on campus to help them prepare for careers in that field. Earlier this semester, a group of students formed an APSU chapter of the National Home Builders Association (NAHB).
The NAHB is a trade association, founded in 1942, that serves professionals in the housing industry. The APSU chapter hopes to work closely with the Clarksville chapter to find opportunities for networking and internships.
Clarksville Parks and Recreation Wins Award for its First-ever Kids Triathlon
Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department received a Four Star Award at the Tennessee Recreation and Parks Association (TRPA) at this year’s state convention held in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
