Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – When Keith Wilson, 51, first arrived at Austin Peay State University, George H.W. Bush was president of the United States, Johnny Carson ended his 30-year tenure as host of the Tonight Show and Barcelona hosted the Summer Olympic Games.

Much has changed since 1992, except for Wilson’s status as an APSU student. A series of health problems delayed his studies over the years, causing him to sometimes drop out or take only one class a semester. [Read more]

F&M Investment Services - Raymond James - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – Fear of Fed tapering hung over the stock market. Market participants believed that the November Employment Report would be the deciding factor for whether the Fed will begin to reduce the pace of asset purchases this month.

The jobs report was stronger than anticipated, but not as bad as feared. Payrolls rose by 203,000, a bit more than expected (median forecast: +180,000), with a mild net revision of +8,000 to the two previous months. Job gains were relatively broad-based.

Special Holiday Activities All Month Long at Governor’s Square Mall

Governors Square MallClarksville, TN – Scotto Pizza is hosting a Holiday Pizza Party with Santa on Saturday, December 21st at 11:00am in the Food Court. Santa will be visiting with guests from 11:00am–11:30am.

The pizza party includes two meal options and each child will receive a Captain McFinn holiday coloring book. Tickets ($5.00) are available at the Customer Service Center by Dillard’s.

Montgomery County Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony was held Saturday

Montgomery County TennesseeClarksville, TN – On Saturday, December 7th at 5:00pm, Montgomery County held their annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at outside the court house and in the court center.

There was hot chocolate and cookies for all those attending. Christmas music was playing making it a festive atmosphere.

Before the ceremony began, several people took advantage of the empty sleigh in the court center for photos.

Children sat on the sleigh with Santa and told him about all the toys they wanted for Christmas at the Montgomery County Tree Lighting Ceremony. Santa was also handing out plenty of candy to everone that paid him a visit.

Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – On Saturday the City of Clarksville held the official lighting of the city’s Christmas tree on public square. Normally the lighting is held in conjunction with the city’s Christmas parade, however with inclement weather forcing the cancellation of the Christmas parade, that was not possible this year.

Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan officiated short ceremony before lighting the city’s tree Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Clarksville-Montgomery County Public LibraryClarksville, TN – The 101st Airborne Division Band from Fort Campbell, KY will be performing at the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library at 6:00pm on Tuesday, December 10th, 2013.

The show, entitled “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” will feature a brass quintet and a jazz combo for an hour-long concert.
