Celebrate APSU Homecoming with Alumni Golf Tournament and 5K Run
Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University Alumni Relations Office plans to welcome back graduates later this month with two special Homecoming events – the 35th Annual Homecoming Golf Tournament and the Homecoming Scholarship 5K Run.
At 8:00am on Friday, October 25th, alumni and the public are invited to participate in the golf tournament at Swan Lake Golf Course. The event, sponsored by Budweiser of Clarksville, costs $60.00 a person, and the fee includes a ditty bag, refreshments on the golf course and lunch. [Read more]

Stocks up despite U.S. Government Budget Impasse

Clarksville, TN – The third quarter of the year proved quite eventful.
The Federal Reserve opted to wait a little longer before beginning to dial back its bond purchases, and a budgetary showdown in D.C. resulted in a partial government shutdown on the same day the private healthcare exchanges mandated by the 2010 Affordable Care Act (ACA) opened.
Political tensions arose over whether to defund or delay major provisions of the ACA.
Montgomery County seeks Nominations for Volunteer Stars Awards

APSU Provost Lecture Series: Photography professor Susan Bryant to present October 3rd
Clarksville, TN – An Austin Peay State University photography professor will present the next session of the Provost Lecture Series this week at APSU.
Susan Bryant, APSU professor of photography, will present at 3:00pm, Thursday, October 3rd, in the Morgan University Center, Room 303. She will discuss and provide a brief history of the of the 19th century photography method known as the wet plate collodion process.
Clarksville to host 2014 Miss Tennessee USA Pageants this Week
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville will host nearly 100 young women competing in the upcoming 2014 Miss Tennessee USA and Teen USA pageants.
Both events will take place at the Austin Peay State University Music and Mass Communications Building on October 4th and 5th, 2013. This will be Clarksville’s fourteenth year hosting the pageants.
Austin Peay State University to have reading by Poets Nancy Eimers and Karen Skolfield October 3rd
Clarksville, TN – In early 2012, award-winning poet Nancy Eimers read a poetry collection that was tender and serious, but also deeply funny and playful.
“This is a poet who pays attention to small wonders, who marvels that ‘sticks / can walk’ and ‘the roots of trees gather / forgotten rains,’ who takes to heart ‘the river’s stillness behind a fallen log,’ and yearns over human fragility, a child’s hand with its ‘twiggish bones, the little covering of skin,’” Eimers later wrote. “In and around and under the wit these poems are enormously tender.”
Clarksville Parks and Recreation gives Billy Dunlop Park a facelift
Clarksville, TN – On Saturday, September 28th, 2013 the City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation partnered with Freudenberg Filtration Technologies of Hopkinsville, Kentucky to complete a Company Service Project at Billy Dunlop Park.
The project consisted of replacing the gravel that covers the playground with a softer wood mulch, clearing out brush near the walking bridge and painting a fence.

The Indoor Aquatic Center opened its doors for the Indoor Season today, October 1st. Enjoy a day of free admission, refreshments and free Wibit and Aqua Climb access on Opening Day from 6:30am to 12:00pm and 3:00pm until 8:00pm.
